Mental Health Discussion

Thanks mate. Appreciate it. At the moment I’m struggling to find much joy in everyday life but I know for myself I’ll get out personally since it’s a one-off event that’s triggered it. It’s the people who can’t see a future where they’ve not sad that worry me and sadly often they don’t talk about it. I think I mentioned in the other thread someone I was close to passing recently and it’s like a small piece of my regular life has been ripped away. That and the Paul Green thing make me think of my brother more - that was over 20 years ago now but it’s probably only in the last few years I’ve been able to talk about it with others let alone on a WT forum.
I know similar of what you speak.
My uncle 16 years ago.
Still cant even face his grave.
When people make the decision to end it all…they do so in some respects to those around them.
50 Aussie men a week…such a shameful stat. We need to do better.

I guess you can just tell if someone is genuine or not.
Moses, Matterson. You get the feeling they're using it more for leverage than actual suffering.
What do you think?
No.... I dont think you "can just tell"
It takes a specialist to diagnose and the term MH covers a very broad range of conditions nowadays

When the overwhelming advice is 'talk to someone' 'share it' 'get it off yiur chest' if someone's struggling... To label anyone as scum or anything could be a fatal trigger for them...none of us know how others are really doing unless we know them personally and have talked with them

You could almost say some here are suffering some form of MH going by the way other members have affected them even when they're not here.

Coming here after The Paul Green news, this thread is a disgraceful indictment on this forum. The whole thread is full of platitudes about people should "speak up" and everyone is here to support....then one guy speaks up and says that he is not handling things and he is bullied and in fact ultimately bullied off the forum.

A group posters here have actually bullied someone who on a mental health forum confided that their mental health was very fragile. Continued that bullying until they got banned. Thats who you are, THAT kind of person. These people need to have a look at themselves. The posters who didnt step in and who lionise this group are no better.

And thats cool....if that is who you are..be who you are but dont embarrass yourself with the fake platitudes. This thread is a hot mess of hypocrisy.

Good post but I disagree with the comment about it being cool. It's not cool. It's hypocritical and messed up.

One other point I'd make is that the mods changed because one mod appeared to ban people way too easily. People are still getting banned.

It doesn't seem to be about banning people but about pathetic power struggles.

I can understand getting banned for stating something really disrespectful but being banned after being baited consistently doesn't still well with me.

Who got "bullied off the forum"?

Good or bad , everyone gets to have a say on this forum.
This forum is nothing without all of us.
I’d hate to be the only one on here.

There’s a great scheme you can get if you’re from nsw

Called ATAPS. You need a GP referral. I was on it for a few years when I was a bit lost about what to do with my life.

You essentially get about 10 sessions free or covered large part by Medicare to see a professional psychologist. Make sure you get a good psych as well as they’re not all good. It’s a relationship and they have to fit you and vice versa.

Here in Canberra they have one too but haven’t seen a psych so can’t tell you what’s it called. Anyway just my two cents

Here's an article today about Barilaro being unable to attend the hearing due to mental health issues.

wow its still lingering in me, hope I shrug it off soon. I think it’s the family for me which I find hard to forget.
Yes, my heart goes out to his kids. Suicide would have such a devastating effect on children who would live their life questioning themselves I would think. Such an undeserved burdon for children to carry. Very sad.

He would be one of my least trusted politicians in Australia, there is a reason his nickname is PorkBarilaro. He has had his snout in the trough for a long while and has tried to keep it there for even less work than he has been doing

He was also a Minister and should have been upholding standards. Having a relationship with a report in your office doesn't imo meet a suitable standard.
