Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Agree with your points - Still, With the young blokes - Who's the leader?
Who's our JFH or JWH, Bromwich, Tapine or the like...
The kids are still kids - Good kids, But they still need a leader....

There's no real leadership there...
Yeah, fair call. Not sure if it's Matt Lodge though. Would love JWH for the last two years of his career. Don't like him as a bloke but he's a forward leader for sure. No chance of getting him though.

If Frizell and Klemmer are on the outer I am absolutely behind the club talking to them.
IMHO, we shall stop acquiring the mediocre leftovers, and to paraphrase "The Players Tim Sheens rejects .."
In this "mediocre rejects group" I would include Frizell, Klemmer, Long, Moylan etc.
One can argue that all of those are better than what we currently have, but we have to aim higher!
So, I suggest that we shall target: Hass, Saifiti, D Fifita, Fa'asuamaleaui or the nearest alternative, and certainly not be forced to sign a has been leftover just because it is available and no-one else wants him.
And this change of direction is possible e.g. Utoikamanu, Papalii, Koroisau !

Klemmer is still a top ten prop in the game IMO. Frizell getting on yeah but for a two year deal he'd be good in the second row, we are extremely short there and will be leaning on kids if we don't sign an experienced second rower or two.

Not all your signings can be top line marquees (unless you're Easts, of course.)

Is this full strength 2023 ?

1 Daine Laurie
2 Starford Toa (Nofo, IF he returns)
3 AJ Kepoa
4 Brent Naden
5 Ken Maumalo
6 Adam Douihei
7 Jock Madden or Luke Brooks
8 Joe Ofahengauie
9 Api Korosau
10 Stefano Utoikamanu
11 Shawn Blore
12 Isahia Papali'i
13 Jackson Hastings

14 Alex Twal
15 Fonua Pole
16 Zane Musgrove
17 Alex Seyfarth / Tommy Talau
Surely you reaslise that's a bottom 4 lineup?
I would expect 4-5 changes to the starting lineup alone by the time the season starts

Bottom 4 roster if that's how we lineup next season imo

😀If there was one more external signing for us for 2023, a game-changer for us could be Payne Haas.

If we had a middle rotation of Haas, Stefano, Pole, Twal, Offa, Seyfarth, Blore, Matamua (Hastings at Lock) with big poppa Fainu progressing in NSW Cup & Aitasi James on a T&T, not too shabby!
If we get Haas, can he bring Staggs, Cobbo and Mann with him? Farnworth also if he is not busy😀

I just don't know if you can give a prop $1m and maintain a balanced roster. But if anyone is worth it, it's Haas.
I do worry about his off field performances, bloke is dumb as paint.

Look across the Top 8 / challengers (Manly, Dragons and Raiders)
The department they aren’t lacking in is their front row talent, power and depth.
I’m yet to be convinced when I see Musgrove named each week as a starting prop for us…

RTS
Latrell
Guerra
Pearce
Matterson
Ferguson
Mick Jennings
Kenny-Dowell / Napa disipline
I think uncle Nick knows what the salary cap is for next year and thats why Crighton has been waiting patiently
Lot of names there.
But If this is reply to my post about east players being brought by other clubs, all these players were no longer wanted by

NICK, BUT PLAYERS HE WANTS TO KEEP DO NOT GO INTO THE MARKET TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT THEY MIGHT BE WORTH, THEY JUST RE SIGN WITH THE CLUB, THOSE NAMES JUST LEFT EAST BECAUSE THE CLUB DID NOT WANT THEM ANYMORE, OR THEY TOLD THEM TO GET OUT, CAN YOU TELL ME IM WRONG, AND GIVE ME THE NAME OF A BIG STAR THEY WANTED TO KEEP, THAT THEY WERE OUTBIDDED FOR. BECAUSE I CANT THINK OF ONE.

really depends on whether or not they buy in or not. we've shown plenty of times this season we can mix it with the best of them if we show up. would love to see Tupou in firsts regularly and another front rower and back rower bought to go onto the bench. if that happens and Jacko stays injury free I think we're a good chance of breaking our finals hoodoo.

Na.... No way
- I could count on one hand when our pack has matched the opposition this year
(And still hold an Ice Cream)
Blore returning doesn't replace Garner and Luciano (We're already backrowers short)
Api and Paps will certainly improve us.... Both are a heap of Footy off joining us though - With both headed to the WC.
But our pack lacks sooo much.... No desire, no mongrel, zero intimidators - Papi and Api will give us options but no Mongrel or Intimidation.

Matt Lodge anyone?
It’s still no to Lodge for me.
Loved ya ice cream comment though.

yea right and then you have players and RLPA continually ramming home the fact that a playing career is short and players need to be paid more. So what do the rorters players do - stay at easts for far less money than they could get on the open market. Total BS.
But the NRL need to look at is when they finish playing and the new unit they move into with the new car and what ever uncle Nic gives them , that’s where there making there income
