Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The COE is a red herring. It's useless when it comes to recruiting or actually improving the team. We probably need it but it's basically meaningless. The old statement of 10 kg is 10kg is true.

Point 2 is the key way forward. If we could recruit quality players we would but we can't. I should qualify this statement. We've recruited 2 high quality players that will make a difference to our team and even a significant difference.

We can't though recruit a team full of established players because the only way we recruit established quality players is picking up established quality players who for some reason are underpaid and typically living in Sydney.

We have a 3rd strategy as well. That strategy is don't play the game the same way the other teams are playing it. That is why we are moving Hastings to lock and basically playing 3 halves which clearly means we have a small pack.

We need gun juniors coming through but to be fair to the club I can't remember how long it has been since we blooded juniors of the quality that we have this year. Our problem is the Rorters blood players like Sualli and Walker. I'm feeling more confident though in this approach.
Cant argue with that and your point 2
" if we could recruit quality players but we cant" sums it up
Yes we've got 2 ? Yes changing our style to more like the 05 style great if you can ?
The strategy I want in there somewhere is to seriously ask why we can't. Then address it ,fix it and have the nrl community saying its a whole new atmosphere there . Happy not Toxic anymore

HAS HOOK FOUND A HOOKER?
St George Illawarra are planning to head to market for a hooker come November 1 but are close to securing Jacob Liddle on a short-term deal.

Unless there is a drastic shift in thinking surrounding Ben Hunt, the Dragons will target a hooker for 2024 before Christmas with ex-Dragon Reece Robson on top of their list when the November 1 market opens.

The Dragons are in advances discussions to land Liddle for 12-months as they continue talks with the Tigers about the terms of the agreement given Liddle is contracted to the Tigers for next season. The deal will only break down if the parties can’t agree on the wage split.

The Dragons expect Andrew McCullough to go on for another season while Liddle, Moses Mbye and Jayden Sullivan can play hooker.

The Dragons wanted Sam Verrills to be their long-term option before he decided to ink a deal with the Titans.

St George Illawarra are now expected to be aggressive in the player market knowing they need to add a classy rake to the squad.

Robson is the best of the no.9 off-contract at the end of next season while another fellow Dragon in Damien Cook is also a free agent come November 1. Jackson Hastings may be another option.

Robson played nine games for the Dragons before being squeezed out of the club to accommodate then skipper Cameron McInnes. (DT)

Dragons still trying to build a roster with other club rejects so they don’t carry full freight of the wage

You’d reckon they’d have worked out it’s not working by now….

Peachy for Staines
I think Peach may be on around similar money so we would be in front with this move , Peach has been a complete waste this year , at least Staines has a go , 1 year with 1 year option in fave club
Liddle to,Dragons get it done Tigers he is not required once API arrives .
Hastings priority , Then AD. Plus a couple more

So Tony Adams is reiterating Sheens thoughts ?
One guarantee in life is if you start out expecting to fail you will !
I don't know, but they are close. When we signed Sheens in 2003 we approached him through Tony Adams.
