Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I guess this isn’t the exact right thread but just been reading about us being denied an early start to pre season training.
TS wanted to start Oct but NRL and RLPA said no one can start till November.
And no Sunday training in pre season.

Also article re problems with LO and possibly CS due to womenswear World Cup. We are currently working on alternative home venues.
We just can’t get our grounds sorted !
Be interesting ti see what they come up with !

He can't tackle. He'd be a great ball playing second rower ala Wade Graham. That isn't a criticism because Graham when he was on was so good.

I honestly think 6 is his best position right now but he has so many flaws in his game.

He has probably more upside than any other player in our team though. When he gets the ball and goes at the line hard he is close to unstoppable.
I stick to my earlier posts that imho he is a centre although he would need to learn to draw and pass to his winger. Currently wants to do it all himself, and drifting in and out of games. Not ideal for the team.

Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett is keeping a close eye on Newcastle centre Bradman Best.

Sport Confidential can reveal Best is on the radar of the Dolphins amid speculation the hulking Newcastle ace is under pressure to lift his game at the Knights.

The 21-year-old last year signed a three-year deal with the Knights and was hailed as a possible NSW Origin bolter after an eye-catching 2020 season that saw him score eight tries from 11 appearances.

But Best has struggled to produce his best form over the past 18 months. There are concerns about his attitude, which reared its head last month when Best was stood down for Newcastle’s clash against Canberra after he was late to the team bus following a loss to the Broncos.

Bennett has not made any approach to Best, but if the Knights are open to an early release, is it understood the super coach would consider a Dolphins lifeline for the hard-running centre. (DT)

Great talent but 31 games played out of a possible 48 in the last two seasons is a concerning trend.

To be fair Blore was always injured at Penrith also.
Devils advocate here... but SBW started his career injured often as well. Dont confuse me with saying they are the same player, though saying that some kids are injury prone because they havent grown into their body yet, almost like they can pack muscle and are willing, yet their bones and tendons arent on the same page. Blore isnt injured because he is small and overworked/unable.

There hasn't been a great deal of announcements made by any club. Mainly resignings. Think that'll be all we'll see until Nov 1.
Thank you…finally some perspective.

Clubs in the finals are not going to want to derail their preparations by bringing signing speculation into the media.

Secondly, there are very few players off contract. This means deals will need to be negotiated by players and clubs. Sometimes these things drag on. Someone’s they happen overnight and surprise everyone (such as the Naden deal).

Just need patience. November and December will be crunch time.

IP is going to set a very high benchmark next year. That bloke is a powerhouse that never stops. I think Pole is of the same mind set, as is Joffa and Stef when he's right. Hopefully, big units like Musgrave can follow suit or at least be shamed into having a proper go. If we manage to snare Klemmer or Leniu or both, I'd be very happy with that lot.
With JH at 13 and AD and Brooks either side we played our best footy. A pre- season together and a year older for AK, T'oa, Tupou, Laurie, I'm thinking we may go alright.
I give Papali'i half a season before he succumbs to Wests Tigers syndrome (getting worse the more you play for WT).

Is it just me or is Jock Madden a loss?

I can see him improving into a quality half we haven't had for the last 10 years.
Probably.

Obviously wasn't in our plans and is probably too good to sit back as depth/is ambitious and wants to develope as a player...

Won't at the Tigers, probably won't at Penrith either... who knows. Might be a career reserve grader ala God of state cup.

Totally agree with you, another bad decision which we will pay for dearly. As per the norm at this club keep the shit and let the good ones go.

It's nowhere near this bad and if it is every other club is in the same position. He is going to play reserve grade at Penrith. He won't take a starting spot if the players are fit.

To put it in perspective no club has given him the opportunity of a starting spot.

He may come good though. He has his moments. I would have kept him especially if we are playing 3 halves in the top team.
