Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

That's how the Roosters do it yeah?

I would suggest most of what we did for the first 15 years was develop NRL players....
I don't classify 3/20 odd seasons in the finals as "Success"
- Winning the comp once is massive...

Having a chance to win it every year (Even every other year)
is just as massive...

Not only that, It creates success and players that want to stay.

I've mentioned it twice now, You claim it's the "only way"
Why then, Have we been utter shite for the majority of the time we were developing NRL players....
Say.... 2000 - 2017....

Why hasn't it worked? We've bought through some crackers!!
Generational players.
We're not even an average side...

We've made the finals 3 times in 23 seasons!!
THREE!!
Why?
Because we sign up our kids on ridiculous valued contracts and promote them early because the only players we can afford to help them grow and provide support around them are basically NSW cup level players. We can’t afford anyone else.
And now that we have the cash we’ve done so much reputable damage to our brand since 2012 that no one decent wants to consider joining us. That is unless we over pay the cap.
Look at the 2013 / 2014 / 2015 recruits. All the talk at the time was the young gun tigers everyone wanted to see what could only be described as a very similar spine to the Titans of this year, own the top grade. They were put on a pedestal partly because of the external fanfare surrounding the tigers but more importantly because the only senior halves we had recruited to support them was Jordan Rankin, Jack Littlejohn, Josh Drinkwater. Same goes with the forward pack with an aging and deteriorating Keith Galloway having to help develop Woods, Ava, Sue and to a lesser extent Taupau.
When we finally recruit some Senior support for Woods in Matolino he goes and does a dash to a rival club.

If you asked me, the only way the tigers can be competitive is if they stop trying to turn over their roster from players 20-30 and replace the roster from 1-19.

matches up with the oil ive been getting guys and girls. word is that WTs are looking to essentially give brooks' contract to munster with a fair bit of topping. brooks' manager aware of this and approaching other clubs in preparation. my source (close to a board heavy) believes we are in with a serious shot.
The offer to Munster is independent of Brooks contract and far exceeds Brooks contract. Their Contracts don’t even overlap. Both off Contract end of 2023.

Your oil is rancid

Pretty much matches what I heard on the weekend.

Should know more midweek.

by contract i meant the money he is getting, and the fact that it exceeds brooks' contract is addressed when i said there will be extra topping.
