Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Don't be. He's been a broke-down shell of himself since he returned from Canberra. That shoulder surgery did him in. Maybe the same surgeon who ruined Sammy's shoulder. The guy you should be looking at is Jack Welsby. This kid is something special. 6'2/6'3 - plays fullback but with the ferocity of a backrow forward. Quick. Explosive. Ferocious competitor. Best of all - off-the-charts rugby IQ. Scores. Huge number of assists. 20 - 21 years old? Generational talent. He's definitely going to the NRL and the club that gets him will be lucky to have him.

Welcome to the forum. He gets my vote over Bateman.

I’ll just leave this memory of 4 years ago here

Facts don’t come into the Brooks argument mate, only wins and losses and worn out blinkers. Funny how the other halves can’t win here either. 😂

I'm past that point now, after Cleary bailing and waltzing into Penrith and experiencing immediate success and Madge somehow managing to send this club further down the shitter after building Souths into a powerhouse club I can't help but feel like there's zero reason to be happy with the direction of the club until they actually start showing that there will be a reason to be optimistic.
Same flog calls himself boss 🤮

Quite an initial post.

Has he though?
Your previous example of Woods, Taupau, Galloway and Gavet (was he ever considered good?) was literally his rookie year and still not an impressive pack with just awful depth beyond them.
Since then, the forwards have only gotten much worse. We spent years with guys who are fringe first graders at other clubs as regulars in our line up (Seumanufangai, Sue) alongside a rotation of benchies that proved they were never up for first grade (Buchanan, Lovett, Santi, Collins etc).

I don't think Brooks will ever be a premier halfback, but IMO he has never had chance to become one. I certainly do not think him incapable of leading a halfway decent side to finals. Nor can i blame him for the Tigers having not made it there during his time.
Very well put, couldn’t agree more.

Nailed it. I heard either from Lee or WTP that the club were suprised with the angle fox went when editing.

There was apparently PR content on the board and club that never made the cut.
A professional organisation would not have let it go to air.

I used to be friends with the guy who drove Nathan Brown to his interview for the Tigers head coaching job and he toll me that Nathan said not very nice things about the interview the board could not answer basic questions had no idea

Brown mustn't have asked about the weather forecast.

My bet is that board couldn’t hear Browny over the slurping of the milkshakes they got into when he turned up.

He’s one of those candidates you only interview to meet a government quota of some kind.

In his case, one of the 10% in the pork chops equity program.

They said the same about Sam Tomkins

They're pretty much at the point of falling on their own swords Earl.
I'd make a list of all the decisions made in the last three years and put them into two columns - Productive Decision, Reductive Decision.
Reflection is a vital skill in moving forward. If no one within the organisation can do this, then an external consultant needs to be appointed to facilitate.
Happens in my line of work all the time - part of the process of accountability
You think the productive column will be needed?

Similar in ways, but Burton is far ahead.

I just don't know about AD anymore, I don't like him as a half and he doesn't have the defensive skills to play on an edge.

He's become a Nof, thinks he's better than he is because he's surrounded by nuffies.
Playing in the 6/7 at this club is career suicide. Very few players have been able to overcome our mediocrity. One was a generational talent and probably lost more games than he won here.

Tomkins was an outstanding prospect. His problem was a lack of size and being moved into a fullback position where he wasn't physically able to compete. Ended up getting a debilitating injury at the Warriors which robbed him of his explosive pace. Still gets by with his high rugby IQ. But take away that burst of acceleration and not the same player. A tragedy. But Welsby's the real deal (barring injury). Ask James Graham - Welsby single-handedly won him the GF he was looking for before retirement (and was arguably MOM in the win twelve months later). Regarding Jon Bateman, Wigan signed him on a huge contract coming back from Canberra. But very quickly it became obvious he's just not the same player. Lesser forwards who he would be ragdolling three years ago are now shoving him aside like a small child. Wigan won't say it publicly but I bet they'd be happy to offload that contract onto a sucker. Morgan Knowles would be a better buy for less money. But I think he recently re-upped with St. Helens.

Don’t agree, yes Moses was the better player but crap attitude. He was the ring leader to get him woods and turdesco out of the club. Remember it was his uncle that was all their managers. He was behind it all the brains of the operation. He was the better player compared to brooks, but crap human being, that didn’t give a crap about the club. Evident in him tanking in games to get out early from his contract, I am glad we didn’t keep him, slimy turd.

Here we go chasing headlines about signing big name players from other clubs with big desperate spend anything bids. This will end well.

If we haven't yet learnt: shut up about recruitment, focus on the team and stop windbagging on radio about a new approach until you've actually done something on the field.

How can our club bosses be so bad at basic media management? We look desperate and I'm sure it would do nothing good for either team morale and fan optimism when our big money, big publicity bids inevitably backfire on us.

Sheens and Benji appear to be making more of the same missteps with no authority or guidance given from our incompetent club management. I hate to be negative and love the tigers, but everyone on here can see the stupidity of this approach, why can't our administrators?

Unfortunately u can't just sit in silence. The media plays a big part in footy these days.
