Adam Doueihi #227

I believe AD is a quality player and we need to keep him.
I don't want our talent to erode away, instead let the new coach and his outfit further develop him over the off season....same goes for Laurie, Blore etc.
AD's deficiencies in speed and D can surely be addressed over the preseason.
It was unfortunate that he injured his knee last year because as far as speed goes it would have compounded the issue.

If Douehi wants to play where we need him most its center . We just don't have any decent centers . We have 2 decent wingers who rarely get ball in a 2 on 1 situation . Alex Johnson gets so much ball in overlap position no wonder he looks good . Jacko is our best organiser which is best done in the half's and unless Brooks rejects his new 3 year contract it will be a fact of life that he is our other half . Dumb to release Madden before Brooks commits

Here’s a thought: why don’t we wait until he gets a full off-season at the 6 considering he’s coming off a 2nd ACL injury?

As far as the Brooks nut huggers go and their pathetic jabs, you have made (mostly invalid) excuses for 9 years. AD hasn’t even had a full offseason at six.
Basically what I said, let these players further develop over the offseason under a new coaching regime and see what happens.

Hopefully a great world cup showing and a solid pre season... come back roaring, ready to go.

He had a few ugly games this year but let's not forget... we won like 4 games..

He's one of the only players in recent years to play with some pride and passion... like he wants to be here.

If he can continue that into 2023 and play to his potential for the entire 80 mins at the position he wants to play in ( 5/8 ) then all good.

Hopefully there is a lot of honesty happening within the club after collecting the wooden spoon. I believe that AD would be reluctant to sign because of the quality of players around him, same with Hastings, particularly players in the forwards. I hope they make these feelings well known.

Yeh he was underdone ay.
But if he keeps it up, he can bugger off too.

Because he is off contract and people want him signed now.

I have said this before let’s give him an off season before we judge him however, I don’t think he is quality enough to state he should be playing in this or that position, what annoys me is the way his attitude dropped (which even the most ardent AD supporters would agree) and the fact that he is holding off signing until after the World Cup.

Speed and defence are his development points, but he is a good runner of the ball and can break a tackle and can kick.

By delaying he is either looking for a deal elsewhere or wants more money from us. I don’t know what he is on but I think it’s reasonable and fairly representative of his NRL value and putting upward pressure on the tigers only hinders our ability to get better players.

Found it quite odd when so many here realised that they had been cheering a false reality of some perceived strengths of Adam, which a relatively few had been continuously calling him out on as not having, particularly the effort or will to win part.

Even odder, was that I then found myself sticking up for him, against the recent barrage aimed at him over his lack of desire during matches, as I was witnessing some efforts that I couldn't recall the like of from him prior.

Doueihi has some good attributes, as do our other possible halves options, and each one of them needs our forwards to do better for any of them to prosper.

As local juniors, I want both he and Brooks to remain at the club with fair remuneration, similarly with Hastings. Also, whilst happy enough in general with the form of Laurie at the back, hope we get to see him in the six if WT have another fullback option.

I agree with most of that but a few things to consider. I’d say it’s also likely that he’s betting on improving his ability and therefore his value as he will be having his first healthy offseason training at 5/8.

As for the attitude drop, I don’t entirely blame him considering he’s one of the few competitive players who want to win and he’s in a side copping multiple 40+ losses with players who couldn’t give two shits.

AD is just another dud dud signing, be serious, sloooooow, can't tackle, ball hog, but a great self promoter. Do people honestly think he is a top shelf footballer ? No wonder we are in the position we are. Mediocre is what this side is, because thats what we put up with .!

Wow that's cutting Sleeve. Is he as bad as what the rest dished up this year. The handful of games he played coming back from serious injury I'm prepared to overlook.
What was he like last year before he was injured. I saw potential there.

Never for one minute do I think Douehi is a dud signing. I dont know what he is being paid but I am confident the new regime will not pay him more than he is worth. In my opinion, Adam is playing in the wrong position. He needs to play centre with a view to eventually move to the 2nd row. I dont doubt his passion or the will to win.
In the future, when he has learnt to tackle and play a team game, I see a very handy backrower.
