Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Brooks and Doueihi. The 9 seasons to me is irrelevant. Who is going to perform better.

I suppose you can just delay the decision. Brooks and Doueihi are both signed up next season but then they are gonski. Re-sign Hastings, see if Faagutu comes on and then adjust.

That means no long term signings for Brooks and Doueihi. You pick one.
Doueihi and Hastings will perform better. Based on the 9 seasons. Which is only irrelevant if you wanna live in delusion.

Because the distribution role from lock is Hastings best position for mine.

Like others, I had some hope that he may be able to grab the opportunity that Doueihi's injury provided in the halves, though expected him to play the 13 role since the day he signed with WT.

Maybe people were watching different matches than I was this year, but my eyes saw that opposition coaches only took a couple of weeks to work him out, then nullify him in the halves, mainly due to lack of pace. In the NRL I see Jackson as a 13 first, 9 second and back-up in the halves, though happy for him if he can prove me wrong.
The key to resigning Hastings is what position he wants to play.

A number of clubs would love to have an organiser / on field leader like him.

Critical signature for the Tigers.

Madge was the coach of the Wests Tigers. The club AND Madge gave him a lifeline. I'm sick of this glorifying of Madge like we weren't absolutely terrible when he coached us. I've never seen a worse Tigers team play than his 21 and 22 teams, but yeah, long live the madge
I have seen much worse than the.Madge era.

He was trying to instil some grit in the squad he had.

We need to look to the future now and the new leadership.

We were most of the time. Tigers finally recruited a couple of first graders - to play under Madge, then they knifed him before he had the benefit of them in the team.

He plays where the team needs him to play.
I think he’s done enough to be at least consulted!

I’d be letting Brooksy go with all good blessings, free up some cash for the kitty.

Titans Fifita being asked to cop a $450k hair cut in the next round of talks with them.

I doubt he’s interested in staying, not that he will get what he thinks he’s worth.

Chunky, mobile, strike threat and all he needs is his head re-wired.

No doubt Sheens has had the discussion with him. I recall the comment from Hastings that he had spoken to Sheens seeking reassurance about his place in the team.

The roster at this club has got progressively worse with each coach since JT and every coach since has and will struggle until the club can recruit/ retain a crop of quality players who want to work hard, have some talent, and want to win.
Whether you supported Maguire or think Sheens is the next coming the success of any team is built on the back of the standards that are set by the squad and if most are here for a good time, think they are better than they are, or until the next best offer comes along we will be paying out coaches in ten years time and in the same position.

I take your point that whole of team team must come first, but if Hastings has strong views about his value in certain positions, we should listen with intent.

Plus he deserves an upgrade in other respects.

We could bribe him out of the halves perhaps?

But this nonsense of Brooksy turning the corner…

By 2024, Matamua and Faagutu, two outstanding prospects, will be in the frame for the 13. I have little doubt this will come into consideration by Sheens, Marshall, Farah and Furner.

As night follows day every bloody off season;

* brooks has finally found his inner half back
* brooks no longer lonely and has his confidence back
* Brooks counselling reveals a dally m in waiting.

He’s the luckiest man in the game.

I wish it was only Furner.

Sell off Brooksy and use the 350 profit to get Fifita to 800. A gamble, but I think we could do something with him.

We wouldn’t need the 3 year lead time alleged development period

He’s ready to go physically for sure. Pay and Play.
