2023 Expectations

Not when the people who created the mess are still there throwing their junk around.
 
We have pretty much run the club into the ground, to the point that players refuse overs, a novice coach was afraid to commit, we couldn’t find anyone else as coach, so our head of football is filling in while another club legend learns how to coach.
The idea of “injecting DNA into the club” is something we have not tried before.
I’m not saying this can’t work, but the question is how much time do we give them before making a call?
Madge got 12 games.
Sheens hasn’t really signed anyone, preferring to hang his hat on Api and Papali’i, who were signed by the previous coach.
Do we give Sheens 1 or the 2 seasons in his contract?
How much time do we give Benji after Sheens is gone? All 5 years?
I’ve reached the point where I need convincing by particular activity and achievements, not by words alone.

So far Sheens appointment has been an abject failure and he has signed nobody since he got here.He also threw an interim coach to the wolves and won us a spoon by not even keeping players to help stop us from getting last place.
Questions need to be asked if we dont improve considerably next year,he has been given better players (thank you Madge) than what we have had for years.

I think we should be looking at a mid year assessment( 12-13 games) to gauge whether the club changes have improved us or not.

You could say it was a failure, particularly if the team’s performance is measured by his same rule.
I think his value will be measured by many in the performance of Madge’s two star recruits and players like Hastings, Doueihi, Brooks and Laurie, assuming those players remain in the team.

I do have to say he’s certainly stopped the leaks. That’s his first victory.
When do you think he’ll let Nofa out of the broom cupboard and remove the masking tape ?

Agree, we should have a reasonable idea, if we are on the path to improvement, midway through the season.
What if we have no wins?
Do we then sack Sheens? And what happens to his apprentice? Do we get another coach to up skill him?
I can’t seem to remember? Why did we sack Madge again? Was it to make way for an incoming novice coach who didn’t want to be here?

These are hard questions that hopefully we won’t have to consider. I guess Tim could resign, make himself Fooball Director and promote Benji ahead of time.
But let’s not think about that now 20/40.

Didn't we sack Madge because he'd been here 4 years and made us worse each year of his tenure. Plus our footy under him was pure crap

papali'i was signed around Nov 21, Api in early Dec, Madge was the coach up until start of June this year I think. It was Madge's roster because I can remember Sheens saying just that when he arrived.

They were signed under the Madge regime even Naden
Title of this thread 2023 expectations ?
With this roster I don't expect much unless some surprises in November
