I'm hoping Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds take us on as their next project!

It would be amusing and very fitting personality wise with our club atm.

But even they with their investments, backing and personnel pulling power they haven't been a success yet

In the 1st year they targeted some big names to come to the club and failed to get promoted
This year coming 2nd, not automatic for promotion but a long way to go in the season.

It's not hate it's value, so he is on a back ended deal worth over a million next year, point is he is not worth $500 a year, let alone the average of around $700k plus a year across the contract length

I agree. The issue right now though is he is on a million next season and that means it's hard to make a deal with him to stay or go. No one will take that contract on and he won't want to take a pay cut.

That is without even considering if it's worth playing him in the halves in our team.

Surely we should be considering all of our spine excluding Api as maybe's or short term options at best. Hastings might be excluded. Doueihi has shown some really good moments but his performances haven't really been good enough. Brooks is hated by a massive section of the fan base. Laurie has no one except for the Tigers after him and we only want him for one year.

Brooks is worth what the market will pay. Your opinion that he isn't worth 500k is an opinion that is wrong because the market has always demanded he earn 650 and upwards his entire career. He currently has at least one club willing to pay 800k for him.

Good culture is about accepting less $ to stay with your club as Munster did with the Storm and as Chris Lawrence did with WTs and likely Luke Brooks will do with WTs. I have no time for players leveraging our club for more $ when Doueihi I'm sure is on a healthy contract and Hastings will no doubt be offered a good contract from our club.
Douehi is more likely to be waiting till November 1 to see if their is any genuine interest from other clubs that offer a better chance for him to achieve a level of success. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn't expect us to be bottom 4 ahain next year, and it is a factor that impacts our ability to recruit and retain more so than dollar values at this point.

Sheens has stated at least twice, perhaps three times, that he wants Brooks. Knights want to deal but Sheens has stated we are not dealing.

Doueihi and Hastings will be here until end of next year. I have no concerns if they go end of next season.

Of course for those who don’t know he ended being a Kangaroo until a bad illness finished him. Was a centre in the Chris Lawrence mould.
Geoff Starling (14 December 1952) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer of the 1970s. An Australian international and New South Wales interstate representative three-quarter back, he played club football in the NSWRFL Premiership for Sydney's Balmain Tigers club.

In 1970 Starling was playing in the Jersey Flegg competition for the Balmain club. The following season he started playing first grade, gaining selection for the Australian national team, becoming Kangaroo No. 459, and the youngest player to ever represent Australia. He was 18 years and 181 days old when playing a tour match against a New Zealand XIII at Huntly. That season he also played for the New South Wales side. The following year he made his Test match début against New Zealand. Starling was also selected to represent Australia in the 1972 World Cup, playing in the final which was drawn with Great Britain. In 1973 Starling was selected to go on the end of season Kangaroo tour, helping Australia to victory in the Ashes series.

In 1974 Starling contracted a debilitating disease that absorbed his energy, yet defied diagnosis. Over four weeks he lost 19 kg (42 lb), forcing him into an early retirement. He spent time in hospital in 1975 and attempted a comeback in 1976. Years later his ailment was diagnosed as Addison's disease.
In 2007 Starling was inducted into the Balmain Tigers Hall of Fame.

Newcastle never mentioned $800k, but even if they do pay him that, still doesn't make him worth that, and certainly doesn't mean we match or beat it, especially for a player who has had 9 years to prove his value to us, so I stand by my comments
