The thing is he's not bigger than the other kids, if anything he's smaller than many other forwards. He's got the running style of Taumololo, ie nuggety with huge powerful legs that make it hard to take him down, but he's also got a bit more of a step and line breaking ability too. It's his footwork, tenacity and intelligence that makes him a good player.

Not sure if he'll ultimately stay a lock for us, think Matamua has far more ball skills. Think Chris may end up in the second row...

Tyrone Peachey will return to the Panthers while the Tigers have finally landed Charlie Staines after a multi-year pursuit.

A Peachey/Staines swap between the two clubs has finally been finalised and is expected to be announced as soon as this week.

The Panthers have also been given an indication that premiership winning prop Spencer Leinu will see out the final year of his deal despite the Tigers also circling.

Peachey and Staines will link with their respective clubs for just one season with Staines set to battle Daine Laurie for the starting fullback spot.

The Tigers have long been interested in the 21-year-old flyer. Staines dropped down the pecking order at the Panthers and only returned to play in the grand final after an injury to Taylan May.

The Panthers first gave Staines permission to test the market in 2020 but he has been unable to find a suitable club given his near $500,000 price tag. Conversations between the two clubs started last month but slowed down to enable Penrith to focus on back to back titles.

Peachey returns to the Panthers have a four year absence. So desperate was he to play for Penrith – Peachey asked the NRL to approve a pay-cut.

Under NRL rules players are not able to switch clubs for less money on the salary cap for the length of their deal.

Both players had just 12 months remaining on their contract.

The Tigers view Laurie as a potential halves option too.

Just throwing up a possibility here.
Maybe sheens sees Hastings as a 13 in our team. Due to mostly deficiencies of other squad members particularly in the field of ball distribution.
Now this year it worked for the couple of games he played there. We had a player, not tied to a side, able to provide a link between hooker, forwards and the backs.
And we saw what that did with the likes of Brooks, Doueihi and Laurie. It gave them space to use their running game.
However Traditionally speaking, that job I’ve described above is handled by just two out of the three roles. The hooker and the halfback. A halfback should touch the ball the second most times in the side. And the hooker the most.
It’s great and I liked the game plan with Hastings distributing from lock but i believe it was a necessary evil for our side last year featuring two hookers as rookies and later a utility and two halves that don’t know how to take advantage of play when generated in the middle third.
Now with Api. All that has changed.
You have a hooker who uses the forwards more than any other in the comp. Api has a play style very similar to how Robbie used to play and distribute. In addition his service is top notch and immediate so that intermediary player (ie Jackson at 13) may now be redundant in the side. Which means you can now go back to having an organiser in 9 and 7.
Just a thought.

Fact = Sheens views Hastings as a 13.
All that has changed = Hastings is far too slow.

You Realistically can't have Joffa and Twal on the field at the same time as they're too similar. Slow, one dimensional, not powerful runners, workhorses. You need punch to go with the workers.
Klemmer is a more punchy worker too. Having Klemmer, Joffa and Twal on at the same time would be suicide for our attack.

Woods is the same as the above. Slow and lacking impact. Fifita can at least offload, find his front and get a quick play the ball and still make his tackles.

Rubbish. Joffa can cover 60mins fine.
He isn't a 40min a game prop and never has been.
Starting props need to cover min 55mins+ per game average, most get over 60mins
Put quality around him and his need to carry the whole team on his back which he tried to do endless games this year for us isn't needed.

A Joffa and Klemmer starting prop rotation = we can play with impact style players off the bench & let the kids when they get a chance to run harder for shorter periods giving them time to build up to the NRL level.

Twal is a challenge for me. His defensive work rate & quick play the balls is his value add and something we need but he just doesn't bend the line or offload. I don't know how he fits into the rotation if he can get 20-30mins a game unless we have rookies around him.

Don't know it won't work - Yeo is pretty much doing the same thing at Panthers
(Working OK for them)
Game has been heading that way since they sped it up with the 6 agains etc...

Problem is with us mainly, Is we don't have the go forward from other forwards and OB's atm
to have a ball playing lock.

And he's not worth decent money, Because he goes missing for most of the game.

Granted. But where is the rest of cap money spent? I can’t see any value in what we have at the moment. You can assume we don’t have the money to over pay a back rower and still put a decent side together.
I mean it’s not like we have a heap of players knocking down our door to join.
One player on just shy of 1mil shouldn’t kill our cap.
