Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I love Kenny, one of our best players last year. knows how to find the line and played busted countless times, but...

Sheens likes speed. Maumalo doesn't possess any. it makes sense that he's being shopped.
Kenny is one of very few in our team that can make post contact meters and busts lines on ball return. Even on one good leg the boy has more impact than most.

I’d love a fully fit Ken to stay with us long term. Poos all over Naden.

Has anyone had by chance seen young Kyle Laybutt go around for the Kumuls good size lad plenty of ticker and a good footy nous would be a great little pickup for bugger all, I see 2nd row written all over him
Was supposed to be the next big thing in NQ

Sheens mentioned you get 7 chances to score during a game and you must convert 4 of those to win. Having wingers with genuine pace who can score from anywhere on the field maximises your chances. I've posted this before but watch at 3.16 - Sironen to Simona and then to Korobeite to score with non other than Thurston all over him. A brilliant try made possible through genuine pace in the centre and wing positions.

Honestly, we should have gone for the Hammer. But we have some smart operators in the club who are dumb as anything.
Reiterating your point re pace.
Not too many quick out there

Back in the Day, I did a bit of marketing consulting for The Pirates in the first year of Super Rugby. They had a centre who was pretty good on about $400K (James W?) who played for the Waratahs & a Fijian Forward - pretty handy - Finau Filau? Anyway I suggested that we hire The Manly Ferry and have all the Supporters dress as Pirates and travel across the Harbour for the next Manly game and really set up a PR stunt to attract attention and hopefully sponsorship due to the exposure such an event might attract. But they were only interested in shorts and sock sponsorship opportunities - As far as I recall the NSWRU paid for the GM & Coach and the Waratahs players but no dough for marketing the game.
The Centre probably have been Rory Sidey he played for NSW Waratahs, maybe even Timau Tahu. I think Timau and Lote Tuqiri played together at the Pirates. Finau Filaau was brilliant - Catchpole medal winner if I remember correctly

Should've went for Nicho too....
Could've fixed many issues for us.

Fullback, centre, halves.

Honestly, I was thinking he was gonna be a flop at the Shire. Bloody hell he turned out to be a diamond
Welcome to WT, Napa 🔥
L’Independant reported: “(Catalans) management told Dylan Napa and Josh Drinkwater that they would not be retained despite a year of contract, which brings the number of departures to twelve pending the recruitment of three to four additional players.”
oh man. I’d pay overs to avoid Napa

Im sure the thought of brooks staying for 2023 is killing plenty on here who had him out the door guarantee a club likely wests tigers will pick him up in 2024
I’ve always supported Brooksy and all reports are true, our failures are not based on one guy.
I’m hoping our squad (mainly forwards) give Brooks the opportunity to rediscover his best form.

I wouldn't get too cocky mate.
There's still every possibility he walks out after Nov 1st.

Lots of movement incoming for many clubs.
Market is going to heat up.

I've only ever had the chance to see him play for png on only about 3 or 4 occasions and every time he's caught my eye with some really good stuff toughness, good running lines, and instinctive ball playing and vision a young raw talent that developed right could be anything I.e Simon Dwyer/liam Fulton.

sure will heat up
I think the river slugs will lose one of Moses or dylan brown which will be good to see 🙂

I see the Klemmer thing is not on at least for 2023 . I'm not surprised yet I still. read lots of fantasy recruitment Moses , Dylan Brown and even Burton let's face it recruitment is hard and yet few want to admit it and soul-search why ?
On Oct 18 I expressed some views on this but no one challenged and I would love someone to debate me
So I'm clear Wests Tigers have an NRL side and a Jersey Flegg side
Western Suburbs Magpies have a NSW cup side and a SG Ball and Harold Mathews side and Balmain has a SG Ball side .
We are just not where top nrl stars want to go and its not to do with the spoon
just look at the dogs . I feel ONE club One name gives our profile more power
If someone disagrees and feel that Cup ,Ball and Matt's sides should be called magpies tell me why and how it helps
The JV was taking the Wests from one club and the Tigers from the other and when mixed together a club called Wests Tigers is born and that is the club I support
It is not simpy the spoon but year upon year of failure. No clear plan on how or why the team will improve and the continued instability of the club. Recruiting established stars has absolutely nothing to do with how our junior systems are run or named. The would be recruit is already beyond that level and most likely has no ties to our junior system. Why would they care about any of it?
(Admittedly i don't truly know the set up, but) I can see more arguments against merging our junior sides than for it.
The arguments for is one club with clear pathways and a style of football to be played the whole way through. It has some merit but, in my opinion very little. It would ease players moving through the different grades mid-season. I certainly believe that the structures in place in first grade should be replicated in reserve grade (i dont care what name the reserve grade plays under) but below that i don't see the need to make it club wide.
The arguments against merging juniors is that it keeps the pre-merger identities. By this i dont simply mean as Balmain Tigers and Wests Magpies but i mean as a sense of our club being a part to each community. This is needed to ensure the next generation in these areas grow up to be Wests Tigers fans. More importantly, this also allows us to continue to draw talent from two areas instead of limiting it to just the one. Quite simply we would have a difficult time convincing any Balmain kids to travel to Campbelltown 2 or 3 times a week to train or vice versa. Worse still would be trying to convince them all to go to Concord and losing our identity and attachment to both areas.

LM, I remember Wayne Erickson fondly he ran the touch line when Gregan denied jeff Wilson in the '94 bledisloe. He was my neighbour, west harbour old boy too 🙏🏼

That's baloney and I'll repeat the sequence of events again, for about the 10th time.

Jason Taylor was head coach in 2015 when Tigers scouted JAC from Sharks Toyota Cup. You are trying to argue that the head coach who oversaw a junior signing wanted to keep him in reserve grade? Baloney.

JAC played 4 FG games prior to signing with Melbourne, and they announced him the day after his 4th appearance. He played rounds 7, then 11-13 before signing with Melbourne. JAC went on to play another 9 matches, which again is fairly considerable for a guy that apparently the head coach thought was a reserve-grader.

Furthermore Rankin played in 7/9 matches that JAC played, including the first 3 (i.e. JAC was not a Rankin injury replacement).

So your recount of events is custard.
Yeah but you can’t argue with the fact that Taylor is still one of the worst things that happened to this club.
