Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

This is one of the big reasons not to sign Woods.

1. It's a waste of a contract spot.
2. Some rich dude is prepared to chuck in money to get Woods. This money should be used to get a much better player. This is the 3rd party contract.
Not sure you understand TPA's mate

The Wests Tigers can have no control over it otherwise its not a TPA.
Just to add for those unaware, TPAs are outside the salary cap as they are negotiated between a third party (eg sponsor/supporter) and the player.
Must be done by someone other than the club, coz if club gets involved it automatically reverts to cap.
Welcome to the land of the Roosters !

Tigers are Klemmers preference however Knights will not release him without Brooks. Tigers are prepared to pay full freight for Klemmer 2023.
I've heard Klemmer's agent has spoken to Manly, Roosters, Parra, Dolphins and WT. He's in high demand, it's not cut and dried. He's building a new house on the water at Lake Maquarie so I don't think he's going north. That leaves 4. WT are offering most though, like you said, full freight. That sounds to me like we are very, very interested.

I bet you are right by the rules but this makes no sense at all. They are bringing him back to the Tigers so the Tigers have to sign him and therefore waste a minimum salary and roster spot on him.

I understand technically I might not be talking about the rules but I bet that isn't how every other club uses TPA's.

It doesn't really matter though does it. It's a waste of a roster spot.

I don't like that. Never have. Never will. You can call it but hurt but I call it doggery.
There's no such thing as loyalty in the NRL Earl, that's a thing from the '80's. It's a professional sport now, like work. You get a better offer, you take it. How many juniors that come through the ranks are even genuine juniors? They're from the bush, or up the coast or even from other NRL junior systems. Clubs are the same, they're just trying their best to win the comp, not make friends.

It's not that black and white though is it. Most players leave for a tonne more money. Tedesco left for the same money. That is what irritates me about the guy. We wanted him and offered him a great deal and he screwed us over.

He also came across as difficult. Whining about not getting everything done perfectly when he was injured.

I agree though that Clubs do the same thing. It is professional sport.
