I agree with you but we signed IP and Api. I suppose I'm stating it's not black and white and we can compete if we do the right thing.

That is why I'm concerned with signing Woods and Bateman. If you stuff up recruitment it makes the hole much harder to get out of.

England and Wigan star John Bateman has done nothing to douse chatter of an imminent return to the NRL on a big-money deal at the Wests Tigers.

Bateman didn’t deny the move following England’s emphatic quarterfinal win over PNG on Sunday AEDT.

The former Raiders star and 2019 Dally M second rower of the year told foxsports he’ll make a call on returning to the NRL after the World Cup.
“I’ll sort out what I need to sort out after the World Cup and the decision will come then,” Bateman told foxsports.com.au.

“I’ve got a contract at Wigan and rumours are rumours, but it’s always good to be liked - I don’t care what you say.

“I’ve got a World Cup to focus on and that’s what I am going to be focusing on, I’ll answer the questions after the World Cup.”

Bateman can command almost double his Super League salary by returning to Australia and a return looks almost certain.

The 29-year-old has a daughter with his Australian partner, but he also has an England-based teenage daughter.

Bateman played in the 2017 World Cup final loss to Australia and is determined to go one better and end England’s 50-year drought.

“I played and it was really disappointing, we lost by six points,” Bateman said.

“We’ve won a couple of games this time that people didn’t expect us to win but we’re confident in ourselves.

“We know what we need to do and we know where we want to go.” (FOX)

Be real. Klemmer is still about a 500-600k player for most clubs.

We are awful. we could never sign any top player for market rates. We'd be looking at a million for Haas, Fisher Harris etc. Klemmer is worth 700k for us next season, he would be the leader of the pack. Paying 800k is only slightly higher than his actual value.

Statistically he was twice as good as our current props.
 
Interestingly SEN were talking about the Bateman and Hastings issue and Joel Caine high lighted that Mark O'Neil and sheens never got along and used it as an example of not needing everyone to get along.

Never knew buckets and sheens didn't get along, anyone hear of this before?

Well sheens took the (C) off buckets and gave it to Prince mid season.... I don't think O'Neill was thrilled about it

Yes it was fairly common knowledge especially after Sheens took the captaincy off buckets

Love it or hate it , KLEMMER is what this team needs along with Bateman and if we need to pay just over the that’s the price u pay for been the wooden spooners

Agree. We have alot of cash to spend in 23 and even more 24 & 25.
Benji has a war chest of funds mixed with some kids coming through and we could be very very active in the player market for some top talent.

People who report they are in the know have all said Klemmer we would take full freight & Brooks swap isn't needed by us + we are chasing Bateman, we were chasing Leniu for 23 and we can keep Brooks = we have $1m to spend under the cap in 23 atm just on that alone.

If Brooks goes and we get no one in return we will have closer to $1.5-2m now Nov 1 hit and players get their 1st payments soon if not already for 23.

Cash to spend on players is not an issue for us we have heaps of it. It's making sure we get the right players is the key.

In 24 if we lose Brooks, Hastings, AD & Laurie we will have over $2.3m free just on their positions alone (different report rough estimates Brooks $1.1m, AD $650k, Hastings $450k, Laurie $350k).
