Jackson Hastings #251

It's not just about tactics. It's about setting standards. Your leaders demand players around them lift to get into game and stay in the game. Any one who think coaches don't need those type of players on the field is kidding themselves.
Mentally those players are the type that switch on when they on the field because they want to compete. The best teams have them and to be successful you need them.
Couldn't agree more.

Poster suggesting (I'm not questioning the info) the possibility of an Okenbur - Hastings with cash adjustment trade. Jadtiger's comments on the matter. Sheen's comment imo was made for a reason.
Are people suggesting that Bateman won't sign until Hastings is gone ??

Well that raises an interesting question ??

Do you want Bateman or Hastings ??

Slightly lean towards Hastings ....especially if Brooks is going ......Bateman doesn't appear to be the player at Canberra before the shoulder surgery ....

Could well be. There will be interest in our halves due to a shortage in the NRL My only point was to express that Sheens had made that comment for a reason. He is an intelligent man and whether that was a "hands off" or "positioning our club" for negotiations I don't know.
I would say for 2023 tell Newcastle and dogs etc to back off we are not releasing any of Hastings Brooks or douhie

I hope Bateman is coming to WTs. I can't comment about the relationship between the two of them. If there is an issue surely it can be worked through.

I havent gone through the last few pages just yet, but I spoke to my friend who is Lebanese and he said the dogs are gearing up for a big money play at Hastings for next year to play scrum half. He even toured the facilities.

It does pass the common sense but too.

They have got rid of Schoupp.
Jackson and rumours are they want Allen and we are interested in Okenbour, and on their books, they literally only have 1 number 7 and he is a dud (Kyle).
They have BBO but he is injured until August Phil Gould said on his twitter yesterday.

There is no chance they are making way for cheapies and even less chance they go into 2023 this light on halves. So it is very likely they get Hastings as the dominant number 7 and Fu Brown as the utility.

In return we get Okenbour and cap space.

It actually makes zero sense off the back Sheens has come out and said plus the fact we don't need any cap space for 23.

Okenbour is terrible

Not a good way for Batemen to start off with his teammates if true…. demanding another player be shafted.
Doubt it would be true.

I don't think we stand a chance in hell of getting Bateman.
But as a player and as what value he could add to the WT, a hell of a lot. Canberra went to the finals on the backs of a handful of players, Bateman and Josh Papalii.

Yes Bateman has a shoulder injury, Shoulder injuries suck but they will get better unlike Hip or ACL's. I think Hastings is the future and I don't want to loose him.
Yet something Wayne Bennett said "when you trade players, you need to make sure you are upgrading". Bateman > Hastings, particularly as Bateman got his team to the finals.

Okay who are we punting/firing:
Hastings
Brooks
Doueihi

2 positions and 3 players who haven't claimed their spots. (oh wait that has been the forum topic for the last year). Sheens hurry up and make a decision. 2 halfbacks = 0 halfbacks.
