Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Unfortunately 1.4M for the Tigers is about spot on to even get a look in and is about 1M to clubs like Roosters/Riff/Melb etc as they can sell success and winning culture
to a bloke. Tigers realistically can only offer a bloke a flash new COE, 7 home grounds and a sniff of being part of a team on the way up (albeit from dead last).

Awwwww poor Tamou .. Having him (the Easter Island Statue) as player in our side, let alone being Capt .. he’s damn responsible for driving many WestsTigers supporters into a mental facility with drinking / popping pills addiction, with many others wanting to slit their wrists .. the guy was bloody awful .. to say the best about him .. !!

Thank God you’re gone .. 👍😃👍

I would not pay $1.4 million for Moses , would go to $900,000 maybe $1,000,000
Would chase Williams the pm 1/2 , better value at around $700,000
The thing is Brooks is on the amount that you are suggesting we offer to Moses. Moses knows he is way better than him so it's just natural that he is going to want a lot more .

Every member of last year's squad was signed or got an extension by Madge. 4 years is enough time. We were going backwards under him. The two big inclusions were both signed after Sheens started which is no coincidence. Madge wouldn't have got them over the line
Yeah people love saying that. All our $ was tied up in Brooks/Packer/Mbye/Reynolds/Matulino for most of his tenure. He had little room to sign anyone of note. Pascoe and Chins dad fked us

1.4m in a proposed 12m cap is about 11-12% of your cap. A little overs but it checks out that your number 1 marquee player can take up at least 10% of your cap.
Didn't I read that there potentially was a large 3rd party TPA in there? Potentially this isn't the cap amount, but the total opportunity.

Not sure man, Manly have DCE on 1 mil, Turbo on 1.2 in a cap less than 10 mil...
Teddy on 1.1 in the same cap.

Moses starting number for this contract is 1 mil, He's already on 900+ after a year of probably his best footy. Cap going up as it is - The 1 mil becomes 1.2... That's just to stay where he is, Doing what he's doing... To pull him away, to a lower level team
- 1.4 is where that conversation is set to start...
Those contracts would likely be increasing as the cap goes up. DCE signed his rumoured $1m deal in around 15/16. Cap was just under $7m then.

We should really be talking salaries as a percentage rather than a dollar figure as the cap will keep increasing each year at this rate.

Balmain particularly got great value from their English players. Who could forget the Lockwood / Pringle combination. Wests didn't do as well. Lee Crooks was probably their best, excluding Ellery who Balmain had first. I was a Wests fan BTW.
Hanley, Schofield, Crooks, Howard, Drummond were good for Wests

Moses behind our pack, it is better than the parramatta pack of 2022, he will kill it.
At 6 Brooks is a better option or at least equal to Dylan Brown
They will prove a very formidable partnership in 2024 Moses 7 Brooks 6

Don't know about the better pack bit, as Junior is like a wrecking ball on his own, and had some quality around him as well at Parramatta this season.

Moses is worth what the market place is willing to pay. It’s that simple . It’s like Sydney realestate, soon as the government introduce a scheme to help first home buyers, the cost of housing rise to eat up all the savings of the scheme. Salary cap goes up, wages go up, especially if your a elite player who plays in thespine

Yeah except by the time Mitch gets here Brooks will be on half what he is now.

Yeah - Just Clownery....
Those players were taken over the line to signing with WT's by an old enigma they'd never met (Sheens) as opposed to a bloke that had coached them both previously (Madge).

Madge did plenty wrong, But gets no credit at all for the things he got right.
As soon as he had money, There were quality signings and it's no coincidence.

WT were seriously hunting Latrell and others, so there was money available for top shelf signatures.

Bro.... You turning to the darkside.

I like the new signings as well, But there is no way our packs bests Parra next year....
Even with Bateman.

Lane was immense for them last season, Marata and Oregon very solid interchanges....
RCG and Paulo (RCG gets overlooked often but is huge for them)

Matterson, N Brown and Mahoney.....

We're a ways from there just yet bro.
I hate to agree, but I agree. Parra have some big old forwards right there.

Few of the names he mentioned aren’t there next year. Marata is gone, Papali’I gone, Oregon gone, Mahoney gone, Brown possibly gone, they still have RCG, Paulo, Lane and Matto which is still solid but the pack is weaker than it is this past season. Not the worst pack still but its definitely weaker.

I’m pretty sure Marata (Warriors), Oregon (Sharks) and Mahoney (Dogs) are not at Parra next year. They are also trying to offload Brown. They aren’t the pack they once were.

There was enough talent here in Madge's tenure to get some sort of job done. A lot of talented players went backwards under him. Twal was close to an origin spot. Brooks club player of the year twice in a row. Garner showed early promise as a good hole runner. Simpkin lost any ability he had out of dummy half.

Our players also became very injury prone. God bless him, but Ronnie Palmer was a disaster appointment. Every club he's been at in the modern era was plagued with injury. We kept him around for so long despite him not being that good at his job.
