2023 Pre Season

I actually remember you posting this 👌
You also said the club was keeping him quite ,which I still think they are .slow build ,not rushing him and expecting miracles

Yeah that's right. Let him grow
organically, I know I'm getting
a lot of punters on here offside,
but Sheens knows best, give him
A few starts in KOE and he'll be
ready. Tupou can be anything

Madge failed to lift the club to a new level…. I think his strict approach, which was old
School, wore thin quickly…. This new coaching regime has got it right and it’s the right balanced approach
That's cause the generation today is one of instant gratification.

Hard work unlocks talent.

Marshall in an interview said players are a little different today and individuals need different types of training and/or understanding. Perhaps Maguire never came to terms with it and Marshall recognised that some players do not respond to tough love.

We will grow as a group , I don’t see anyone on our books that will be the I am player , sheens will get them bonded and playing as a unit , plenty players around them with Tiger DNA and decent person , eg Patty Richards , Chris H , Benji , Bob Farah , Dave Furner although not a tiger a decent bloke , these are all quality people and coaching group with old Sheens behind it all , This could be a very good season coming up , stay positive and look forward to it

Maybe, though the generation of today is the product of the generation that birthed it.

We created the environment that they grew up in and they are the result of us, so we need to look in the mirror for the ones to blame, not them.

Deep but probably true, like the old biblical saying says;
“ you reap what you sow”.

It's amazing how quick lazy people move if they are in a room with a ticking time bomb.
They say you can't teach hard work, fiddlesticks.
I've had lads come to us "born lazy" as they say and they ended up quality soldiers.
If it's in you, it can come out with a little help.
With the right coach to motivate and the right captain to lead we can to do better.
They all have to trust in the guy beside them and put in.
This year we were every bit a broken side, as a team we were clueless and lazy. That part of our game should not have happened.
We have no choice but to put our faith in the new coaching strategies and roster like we've done year in year out since 05.
Every year we hope to get better and fail....will it be next year that we at least pick ourselves up and fight.
If all this happens and we come out all guns firing, then I would hope we have a few players that have breakout seasons...Pole, Ute, Blore, Daino. 🤔🙏

I mentioned this earlier in the year - apart from the eleventy eight players we have turned over there is one key ingredient that is missing from our Tigpies over the last few years. Leadership

You are 100% right about individuals being changed by their surroundings. Like CC has outlined above I have seen plenty of lazy, smart arsed kids turned into tough, hard and fair men during my time in the Army. What changed them - in most cases you could put it down to leadership and mateship. A few required a couple of trips behind the shed to be straightened out, but most not.

The mates I served with are mates for life though shared experiences - both good and bad. A lot can come from our ten year struggles if we get the right leaders to get our team believing in themselves and their mates.

The darkest hour is before the sun rises - I trust the coaching staff are focussed during this pre-season on the development of real leaders that inspire our youth to become what they believe instead of just talking about it.

Maybe a couple of love taps wouldn't go a astray on a couple of them!

Cheers n Beers
Jolls
