Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

So many if's , in this squad. If 2 of our young backs go from promising to good . If 2 of our promising young forwards fulfill their potential, If Stains or Laurie make it as a good fullback. They are all possible, and if only 3 succeed we are laughing. That leaves the halves , will they perform behind a better pack, I think so, but i think we will buy a new half or 5/8 for 2024. Depending on how the side performs, we may only need to buy a couple of players for 2024. By the end of 2023 many of our young stars should be first grade ready, SO MANY IFS , OR HOPES'. lol.

Who is the player that Buzz Rothfield has said is upset with the treatment of Jackson Hastings and has informed his management to look at his options?

I listened to Buzz on the Daily Telegraph NRL Podcast today and when speaking about the Tigers he said along the lines of “I think Adam Doueihi is unhappy there… I get the feeling he’s not happy”.

Now the key issue here is that Adrian Proszenko (SMH) recently said Doueihi may have parted ways with his management and may be managing himself - Danny Weidler (also SMH) has mentioned he’s after $900,000 per year.

So if he has parted ways with management and is managing himself, then Rothfield’s comment about the player speaking to their own management to look for options doesn’t really make sense, although the report about him parting ways with his management came from the Herald (not DT) so it’s possible Rothfield doesn’t know about the management switch and has just got wind that he’s unhappy.

Either way, we know Doueihi and Hastings are mates, we know Doueihi wants a big upgrade, we know he said last year he only wants to play 5/8 and we’re looking to sign marquee halves - I think this is who Buzz is referring to. I don’t think it’s a coincidence both major media outlets are writing stories about him essentially being offside with the club.

Personally, he’s not worth $900k. If push comes to shove, I’d be happy to see Staines at 1, Laurie at 6 and Doueihi out the door if he continues having an attitude that isn’t team-first.
Buzz literally makes stuff up

Said last week that the bulldogs would entice Moses with the club captaincy .

Has anybody ever signed or stayed with a club because of captaincy ?

AD is lucky he is on $650k….he is no better than a Corey Allan type of player

Don’t hold your breath waiting for anyone to apologise.
Would like to think Daine Laurie has got more pressing issues than scouring the forum hoping to read that people have apologised to him. He's one bloke that will need a massive offseason and a huge upshift in urgency and workrate to guarantee himself a spot in the 17 next season.

Hey CCTW regarding your paragraph about tedesco, I've always thought that of teddy, the wests tigers club is just very beneath him, to me teddy looks very uncomfortable when he talks about his junior days, or anything to do with the tiger's, people think if rooster's allow teddy to sign with another club ( which I don't think will happen ) that he'll come to tiger's, I think he'll sign with any club but tiger's

Disagree wholeheartedly about the second part of your comment. Ridiculous statement
Corey Allen looked alright is a gun Souths team too.
Comment has some truth to it IMO, but Douiehi seems to have a lot of improvement in him yet, I hope we keep him around.

Classic example of an ungrateful grub that refuses to acknowledge where he has come from. Never ever heard him be thankful to WT for giving him an opportunity but more importantly sticking by him through serious injuries. I hate people like that.

Can't say I've wished him well in his career after he scurried out the back door like a rat. Some players manage to still have the support and best wishes of their old clubs supporters if they leave with a bit of humility and dignity. Not Ted.

If we're signing Bateman to play lock then I think that's a bit of a concern tbh.
Yeah he isn't a lock. One of the positives of Bateman is his angled runs back in field from the edge.

No if Bateman comes here itl be home and Pap in the 2nd row.

No to Offa either. Either Blore or Matamua.

Talau to be bench 2nd rower by the sounds of his off season

Where did I say "we have recruited badly"?
I stated that we have not improved in this area despite the turnover of staff, after all isnt that why we have sacked so many people? to improve practices? Recruitment is one area that is crucial to our success and a good place to start.
What's the difference between "we have recruited badly" and "our recruitment hasn't improved"? (unless you think our recruitment was good to start with, which I'm pretty sure isn't your point).

That's enough rubbish. Any more insulting posts, especially off topic, will simply be deleted.
What makes you think the whole forum wants to hear this dribble.

Never seen or heard him to be any different....
He's certainly a decent human.
Seems that way.

Seems humble and somewhat shy, from interviews and whatnot.

Loved his interview with Robbo where Trent joked they were both former West's legends.

No doubt we're all salty he left us.
He's the best.

Surpassed Slater imo.
