Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

My expectation is that we don't sign him. We are desperate for a quality 1, 6 or 7 and I don't think we have juniors coming through that are anywhere near ready for first grade.

We probably need to replace two out of those three but I suppose it starts with getting one quality player in those critical roles.
The article at the link is correct that at least one of Hastings, Doueihi and Brooks would leave - it suggested Hastings ahead of season 2023. The same article advises Fox League reported only one of them would stay in 2023. It reports Brooks would be the halfback in 2023 and that the club is chasing Moses and Bateman.

Our recruitment/retention is strategic where previously this didn't appear to be the case.

If people are willing to take info supplied by people not in the game such as our inside men on this forum, then it seems silly not to take info supplied by people that are in the game.
Additionally, I am slightly amused that people like Johns and Fittler are taken seriously but guys like Hindy and Fletch aren’t. They basically have the same jobs, credentials and carry on the same way.
True, I actually only rate fitter more reliable only because of his affiliation to origin. Once he stops coaching the origin squad he hasn't got anything reckon him and John's are another pack of clowns.

Remember how confident some of these sources were that we had Latrell Mitchell?! We as fans have been burnt before. I hope we get Moses…but I’m not counting my chickens before they hatch!

It's good to dream and have hope.
However based on past history of player negotiations getting media heat we suck.
I have zero confidence in MM coming until it's formally announced.

Ok so let’s just say we miss out on Moses. Who do we go after then?! Dylan Brown, Matt Burton, who else would be a target for those positions coming off contract?! I guess you can try and get one of the roosters boys in Teddy, Manu or Suaailli to play fullback.

It's really hard. I think developing them is the best way forward.

This. A lot of people (Brooks fans) like to forget that AD was by far our best player in 2021 when he was playing 5/8 and was still dangerous behind a beaten pack unlike Brooks.

It will have been well over a year since his surgery and this will likely be his first offseason training at 5/8. I think people will be in for a surprise in 2023 with AD as our 5/8.
Spot on..and if he thinks hes worth $900k he'll give it a red hot go at 6 with us next season to attract suitors, which is a position where the $$ are rather than the forwards.
And he has the ability to do so as we saw in 21 pre injury.
Brooks will try and do the same at no7,but ..................not sure he has it tbh
