Also noting that for 2023 Luke Brooks qualifies for the veteran and long serving player allowance
Boony are veteran and long serving player allowance the same thing?
A club should get a reward for having him for so long and if he leaves then the player should get rewarded by the NRL for playing for so long??

It's utterly embarrassing and unprofessional to not have this locked in 12 months in advance. How can clubs budget and allocate space in their cap if they don't know how much they have to spend? The NRL is run by a bunch of monkeys. But not the smart Planet of the Apes kind..

I get what your saying but it's not unprofessional.

The NBA doesn't announce it's cap for the up and coming season until just before Summer Camp kicks off which is 2mths before the season starts. Most big players are always signed before the cap is set in stone. The NBA like the NRL provide projections however. Clubs are running to that for year on year most the time anyway and avoid fines end of year.

It's actually veteran and developed player allowance but yes is the same thing.

Just trying to learn all of this Cochise. I was sort of suggesting that only the club should benefit from long serving players at their club which I guess goes back to the player via increased contract monies and if they go to another club then the player gets rewarded not the new club. Why should other clubs benefit from our development of our player.
This is probably how it goes, I wouldn't have a clue. Don't know if I've explained myself properly 🤔

If a player is developed by the club before they become an NRL player they are eligible at that club. If a player spends 8 years at a club they are eligible at that club. If a player plays in the NRL for 10 years they are eligible at any club in the NRL.

I should have read all the posts but you have made it simple. Cheers

Also noting that for 2023 Luke Brooks qualifies for the veteran and long serving player allowance at the Tigers but from 2024 onwards he is eligible for it at any club and that's especially important if it's increased to 500k as per the proposal from the RLPA. Noting both Munster and Moses qualify via any club in 2024 as both will have played 10 seasons in nrl top 30. This means if you had no other player in that grouping you could pay any 1 of them 500k assuming the proposal goes ahead. Although we could use some of that for Nofa and Api
Hang on, what on earth are you on about? how can a loyalty discount be applicable if a player has left the club that they were supposedly loyal too?

That's just embarrassing. After playing 10 years of NRL a player can have part of their salary exempt? That's a rule designed to help the big clubs, no doubt about it!

Then I guess Api would be eligible for it too then. But really there's be a hundred players eligible for it which makes a mockery of it

That is exactly how it works, Tamou for example was eligible for it at the Tigers this year. It really isn't an advantage anyway as it is only $200k over the entire squad at present, rumoured to be going to $500k in the next deal, which is still too small.

It’s a rule to help older players earn more money in their final years.

If a club has the finances they can pay, based on our financials we can cover it moving forward.

Salary cap call set to trigger signing frenzy.

The NRL and RLPA are on the cusp of striking a deal that will finally see a salary cap figure put in place for next season and trigger a series of signings in the coming weeks.

If the cap goes up to what is expected then Nathan Brown will most likely sign at the Wests Tigers. He was seen last week meeting Tim Sheens at a coffee shop.

It's been reported that the tigers are sorting out tying up Brown and Bateman. Also making a play for Mitchell Moses.

How much is the Salary Cap for 2023?

Depends on the team 👀

Good faith is always the best approach, including with the Koroisau situation.

Expect that if no particular clause exists, WT will still act in good faith by sweetening it somewhat, as successful partnerships are based on good faith.
Gould is quoted as saying he never underpays a player.
Seems to buy good faith in players and makes them want to be under him. Tigers and eels are always looking for that sneaky deal.
We do two things, undercut, or go way over.
