Hastings - Reasons for leaving

The situation is more complex than this though. It's the same as blaming Brooks for years of poor performances by the club. It's a team sport.

Sheens tanked last season as much as anyone.
Yep -.he who was responsible for all football decisions last year.

Yep. I disagree about everything apart from Gildart being an average player and Lodge being bad news.

Tedesco being smart is hilarious. Have you heard him talk. He took the easy path. That isn't being smart in my books. It's soft.
Easy decision as well as smart

I don't want to detract anything from Brooksy winning the Dally M half back award...

But, let's be realistic, he beat Mitchell Pearce by a point...and Pearce missed something like ten games.

IOW Pearce was clearly the best halfback of the year that season and Luke got it by default almost.

That is NOT to detract from Luke...it is just that so many people here keep saying "how can he go from the best half back one year, to his current form'.

He was never 'the best' half back.
The year he won that award we actually had a somewhat functional forward pack. Hoping he can perform behind 2023's pack.

Much as Id like to support Gildart..he(and his family whom we flew out for the first game) seemed decent and articulate ..but he was simply terrible for WTs tbh.
Defence was non existent...awareness of touchline negligible...he just didnt work out for us.
And the few minutes he played with the Roosters didnt seem a lot different.
IMO hes just too small for the rigours of the NRL,and wont make it at the Dolphins either unless he has one of Bellamys "magic milkshakes" that puts on 10kgs immediatey!
Off season is time to do it..

5 mins on the clock, you’re in the opposition 20 and you’re down by 2. Who do you want at halfback - brooks or Hastings? Obviously Hastings every day of the week. That’s the bottom line. Brooks wouldn’t have a clue what to do.

Down by two, kick a field goal 🤣
I remember a rugby bookend did that, nailed it and lost 🤣.
A league player did too, can't remember who it was??

You are obviously a very moral man, and i admire that, but i am a realist with far more bumps along a longer road. It changes your outlook Earl.

He beat every other halfback that year as well, not just Pearce who missed 10 games. I’m just as frustrated with LB as most on here but nobody can dispute him winning that award. With a much stronger pack in ‘23 I just hope he can get it together. We don’t have any other options!
You can easily dispute it. There is a fatal flaw in the dissemination of votes in the Dally M system.
If you are a decent player in a good team you may struggle to attract points as there is a lot more competition. If your side won by 40 and you had a 8/10 game you could walk away with no Dally M points as 5 blokes had a 8/10 game…luck of the draw.
Likewise, if you are a decent player in a poor team you are likely to score points everytime you win. Your side may win a very lucky game by 2, you put in a 6.5/10, yet bank 3 Dally M points as you are the big name player and you weren’t aweful.

Or, you were simply the best of a bad bunch? And isn’t that what Brooks has been?

Yep. Who cares about the tripper,
He's a Knight now. Didn't see Klemmer
come out and talk on his former
club in any article since his move -
says a lot. Especially considering
It's reported he fell out with coaches.
I'm riding with Brooksy to glory
Well, Klemmer wanted to go…. didn’t get pushed.
As for Brooksy … 9 years of diddly squat thus far.

Ah well I’d rather celebrate when our team/players achieve success (as it doesn’t happen often) than continue to flog a dead horse.

Being the better of a bad bunch at Wests Tigers does not equal best halfback in the competition. Thats the problem I am alluding to.
No it doesn’t, but it sounds good and certainly doesn’t infer that he is the worst half in the NRL either.
