Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

In fairness to our backs i think a few of them are going to surprise us with a forward pack that can hold its own. When you pack is dominated every week and your backs are just defending or on the back foot its hard.
Once our forwards get the go forward I think players like Naden and TT will start to makes some breaks and Laurie / Stains will shine.

Hopefully we get an Xmas announcement today but if not Happy Xmas to everyone and have a happy and safe break.

Spot on. His support play is non existent. Never seen him back up once. Stains I think would be running around everywhere. Interesting to see which way they go. I'd give the spot to the best trainer out of the two honestly
I like speed,so Stains for me. We were so slow from 5/8 to fullback last year, most opposition second rowers were faster. Our forwards look good , but the rest , lacking in flair and speed.

No way would he stay for 150k. He'd sign elsewhere and get an upgraded contract.

Still think it's a club option.
Prob 4th year would be but my point is a four year deal can appear 2 ways really smart or really dumb depending how the contract is structured. Was just trying to show how if it is a guaranteed 4 year deal and it was front ended he would be great value at 150k. He would be obligated to stay because the remaining Value to his salary in his fourth year would have already been paid to him in his first year. So while he is earning unders in his fourth year he was being paid overs in his first.

I know a guy who follows the Panthers very closely. He even finds out what's happening at training, who is doing what etc. He tells me Laurie and Staines were equal in the pace department when Laurie was there. Staines isn't anywhere near as quick as people think.

He also said Staines is a better fullback and his ball playing is very good.

I think it will be a very tight call who they pick in the 1.

Not sure why the fuss about a 4 year deal when the guy only just turned 29 and in his prime years. If that was needed to make the deal happen I am totally fine with it and trust Sheen / Benji
The concern is over the way he plays the game. Most guys who play with his aggressive style usually fade in their late-20s as it is unsustainable. We might only get one good year out of him before he is busted. That's all good if you're competing for a premiership in that one year, but if you're not and his body fails after 1 or 2 years, you're left with a salary cap burden.

Personally I am happy with the signing. Huge fan of his. He was awesome for Canberra. Hopefully he will be at least 80% that good.

Sheens been banging this drum... It's getting tiresome.... He thinks we're mugs

Can't see us getting Ramien either
I’m personally not bothered if we aren’t able to get more signings. I think we have a decent squad leading into 2023, a change in coaching staff and style will definitely help.

Yes, was great to have people like MM on the Wishlist but no biggie, we have improved in leaps and bounds with our personnel/roster. Our juniors will fill the rest of the void.

I’m big Kev excited.

I think we had to give Bateman something extra to convince him to come here. We have to remember we got the spoon guys people aren’t lining up to come here. I’m hoping the 4th year is a mutual option
We already paid $250k to get the clown released. How much more do we have to give in extras ?
Bateman is like santa clause, we all know he is coming but we haven’t seen one
