Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The decline initially after 2005 was not all bad management. There was a big push from the teams that controlled the NRL to slow the game down. They had recruited teams that were not suited to the fast up tempo style of game that Sheens had the Tigers playing and outside the cowboys, not many teams could play that sort of football.

So the wrestle and slow play the ball was introduced to kill off Sheensball and we did not have the roster to adapt.

Now the NRL have gone the full circle after a decade of rubbish football they now want teams to play like the Tigers 2005 by introducing 6 agains and clamping down on the play the balls.

Dont get me wrong..our management has been abysmal for a long time
Spot on

Yeah you did..

“Technically 2005 and 2011 were failures

Good clubs can follow up on success

2005 was followed up by many years of failure

2010-2011 were followed up by many more failures

We have no-one to blame but ourselves”

Again, I get all your following points, just pointing this out for accountability purposes 👍
Technically .....look it up ...and no it is not semantics ...winning was great as I mentioned ...not following it up with at least one finals appearance for 5 years ....a failure to follow up on the success in 2005 .....hence the reason it was technically a failure .......

Interesting, you could be right. I keep thinking Tom Brady who played till his 40's.

Mitchell Pearce got punted from the knights at 31 years of age and his performance there was better then Brooks here (IMHO). DCE/Cronk ofcourse can play till they are 32 Johns was 37...

Mitchell Moses though is too physical as a 7. Maybe you are right he will go till he is 32, but he doesn't play that Cleary/DCE/Johns nor even Thurston level smarts... Moses runs hard and plays the line more.

BTW I don't want Moses back due to history. I have no problems with him leaving our club but we can leave him alone. Aside from that, unsure how he will be in 2-3 years and can't see him gelling with Brooks magically.

Mitchell Pearce's performances have never been better the Brooks. He has consistently played worse then Brooks while having much stronger players (forwards in particular) around him.

He is the most one dimensional halfback to have a long career the game has ever seen. Brad Fittler at over 40 completely embarrassed Pearce at training one day. While training as a defender, Fittler predicted every move Pearce was making and either intercepted the ball, knocked the ball down or easily covered Pearce and his outside runner. Apparently it was very embarrassing.

People think Pearce is better then Brooks because he barks orders, but his actual play is pathetic.

😂🤦‍♂️
Accountable, look it up..
It was a dramatic and poor choice of words that resulted in many calling you on it and you since doing your best verbal footwork to deny their point.
Just say, bad choice of words lads, and move on.

Lamb is not like Benji, Lamb was disliked by a lot of supporters. He was a guy who probably got on well with the players, however, did not get the respect that he should have as a coach. He possibly should of been brought in as an assistant coach. Also, did nothing for our Juniors and lower grades.

Taylor was worse, he was a nightmare, apparently does ok with the Roosters lower grades however showed none of that here.

Whereas Madge, you could see was trying, his passion was there, he attempted to get good players here , they just would not come, they just used us in getting a higher bid. He was successful at other clubs, however those clubs had the cattle.
Totally agreed.
I will add it's rough for a junior first year coach to not focus on lower grades....

I don't think anyone is questioning Madge's effort. Yet when 2022 was ground hog day in a very bad way and our team lacked Grit all over the place, something had to be done.

Sheens, train them tough.
