Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Speaking of offloads, I saw

The other bit I frown upon is the going to ground with the ball in the last minute pretending to have a cramp etc. Whilst I understand the ball security and all at that stage, it also doesn’t look too good at the time.
this one is actually against the rules. Cant remember exact phrasing but it is along the lines of must complete the play the ball without delay.

Shawn Blore gets all the love for that one game he smoked Nathan Brown...

Don't forget Seyf folded Kikau with ease....

I’m nervous about Blore and how Sheens talks him up. He has an amazing debut but since has been meh. Physically he looks to be able to offer something which normally means he is a coaching dream at training / gym.

He has always had wraps on in juniors but they can only last so long I think his body is 1 more major injury from his NRL career probably being over.

23 is for Blore and Seyfarth make/break years.

Agree.

Brian To'o is a better winger than JAC.

Lots of laughing emojis to my post. Brian To'o averages 203 run meters a game, 70m more than JAC a game. Roughly the same linebreaks and tries, 10% more efficient defender. He is literally like having JAC and an extra forward every game. The guy is a beast and a massive reason Penriff are successful. The metres he gets from the back is like and extra forward and their forwards dont have to get back so far.

not as flashy but the ultimate modern winger.

🤷‍♂️

I think they'll be after a hooker as their starting option is aging and injury prone.

It just makes sense.
I can't see them being too keen to take Nofo or Maumalo.

Yeah mate it makes absolute sense for them , but Sheens is a fan of Simpkin after watching him in preseason , I have been told they will not be letting him go , even though he was given permission late last year to look at any options that might come his way .

Wrong ! Grothe was good, but i could name far better, but that's for another time !
J A C is great ,one of the best, without doubt, but wasted in the Tigers side that had weak forwards, and possibly the slowest backline of all time. He has struggled at the Dogs, with a far better backline, then the Tigers. Wingers excel in good sides, but get lost in sides without flair.
As a priority signing, that was stupid.
Maybe you don’t agree with every pundit ever, but Grothe is regarded as one of the all time great wingers.
I can’t compare to Irvine or King since I never saw them, but in my era Boustead (early), Wendell, Lote, Offiah, Nagas, B Morris even Folau were standouts. Carne and Hancock were excellent too, but I still wouldn’t put them, ET or Chicka in the class of JAC, who for me is next level dynamic, lightning fast, unbelievably evasive and an unreal finisher.
The one I would have on my other wing is Michael O’Connor - who was sublime even as a part-time winger and had an amazing skill set. Silky smooth, great kicker and a game changer.
Interested as to who you think is “far better”.

Cos it was funny. Sure he is excellent, but man, JAC is something else.

Most of those guys (Irvine, Boustead, Morris, ET, Chicka, O'Connor) dont cut it as a modern winger who needs to smash out metres from kick returns into the teeth of the defence. Wendell & Lote were the first of the modern wingers. JAC would have been the greatest ever "old school" wingers in the class of an Irvine, Corowa etc but To'o is the ultimate modern winger.

If we sign Moses.... instantly our reputation and perception around the league changes

Easily biggest signing in Wests Tigers history, if Sheens and Benji can get it done it gives you a large indication of the respect they both have around the league
Gareth Ellis was a big signing, Lote Tuqiri was a big signing. API and Papali’i are big signings. Would you consider the Moses signing bigger?

Gareth Ellis was unproven in NRL, Lote was old and past his prime. IMO Moses would be up there with Api as our biggest ever.
Maybe.
I’m a bit anti Moses. He has big hype but rarely delivers.
Already seen him play for us. Wasn’t very impressed. I didn’t think much of his GF game or WC games either to be fair. He’s better than what we currently have but his signing doesn’t bring the same excitement for me those others did.

They compaired joffa achievements with Seyfarth. Not a bad comparison given both players have done nothing despite joffa internet popularity.

Beats talking about Kyle Flanagan
Joffa is ten times the player Seyfarth is. And Joffa is a bench player in our new, stronger pack. Seyfarth offers nothing. When 'trying' is the defence for why a player should stay that really says it all about the lack of quality of said player and the poor attitude of last season's squad.
