Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Honestly if we don't start to defend it won't matter who we have as halfback. Havnt even thought of Moses for a few days.
Yep, Furner has got a bit on his plate in coming weeks.
Maybe he can try the old Jack Gibson training drill of rolling and tackling truck tyre tubes.
Remember Sterling saying once it was the best training for defence he'd experienced.

Not related to the NRL, but if you think game prices are steep, look at the Super Bowl.
A verage ticket price is $6700.00 American dollars. Min cost $4000.00 US.
Average price per head on food and drink is $67.00.
Hot dog;-$22.00. Beer $22.00 ea.
Stadium holds approx. 67,000.

"Defensive structures" are only as good as the players you have doing the defending. None of our first grade players played. Chill everyone about making statements about our defense.
We have been making statements about defence for over a decade.

We have Naden and Nofo who are ordinary in defence not to mention what Talau produced on Thursday.

I have no problem with our forward pack now. Just the backline be it first grade or reserves.

Not true at all.
The structures are the blueprint for how we defend, what shape to use, who makes the calls, line speed levels, understanding which shoulder to use in each instance, A+B defender responsibilities, wrestling etc….
What I saw the other night was individual players running out of the line, chasing the ball runner across field and not trusting the men either side of them.
Irrespective of the talent difference, we had no shape and very poor communication. I would be surprised if our best 17 had these structures when that lot the other night didn’t, considering they have all been training together for months.
Expect the Raiders to get their bonus points win, lose or draw.

Yes but from experience at a local sporting level, as soon as you are playing 2 levels above where you should be with fitness, experience, general ability, any structure goes out the window. Communication in itself is in my opinion, a gauge of a players ability. Tigers have lacked ability for years. The debate is whether you can coach it or not if you don’t have the underlying potential. I’m not convinced. I’m sure there’s sports psychologists out there to correct me.

With all due respect, these are professionals who are paid very well to do this every day.
