Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Have a listen to the Bye Round podcast with Jimmy Graham and Mark Bouris.
They get the players to have sit downs with highly successful business people who can help/advise on making the most of their money during and after footy.

I understand how this might be appealing to some people but I get offered this advice all the time and typically the advice is in my opinion stupid.

The latest idea that I was told about was putting money into a trophy house in the Eastern suburbs. My response was you chuck in for me and I'll take the profit.

Most people in the "Real World" don't have a base salary of 150k... Or an average Salary of 400k+

This misses the point entirely. The point is that there aren't special investment schemes out there. The best thing is you don't need this anyway.

You are being sold fools gold.

I remember this happening at the Tigers as well. Some players and I think one was Heighington were all in on it. They lost money.

More than two. He gets it wrong quite alot. Trying to put pressure with repeat sets might not seem like much but when your a crap team it's something that needs to be done.
Sorry mate, but the guys who handle the ball the most, also make the most errors, and are targeted the most.
Take the last trial, AD lost the ball at crucial stages, and still had a good game. Getting repeat sets is a lot easier for Cleary, they form an umbrella around him. The value of a top class forward pack cannot be underestimated when it comes to halves performances. This is why the club is marching time with our current halves..

And what is stopping us having Harry T building a few houses at cost price .....if you can't beat them ...join em .....
Only issue I see there is Harry does not build houses. FYI he sells mortgages. Harry is tighter than a Frog’s backside. So is not, never wall and never will be an option. Would love for Harry to prove me wrong. But some how I don’t think so.

Who said anything about secret Sauce?
- They're all top end business men, With fantastic contacts and opportunities to mix with that group of
people.... Well worthy your "fools gold" as it is.....
The key areas I was meaning were in real estate, Shopping Malls, Childcare Centres, B&B's and other
- licenses to print money....

Opportunities and conversations the commoner just doesn't get...

Have you heard of Super or index funds ? They invest in that stuff.

I tell you the opportunities that you don't get. My SIL currently lives in New York. She has hardly worked in her life and she is 40. She starts businesses that her FIL funds and they go bust. We were talking on the weekend and my FIL said he may buy her a house in Miami because she thinks New York isn't that safe. She was thinking of moving to Los Angeles but one of her friends was trying to be an actress and didn't make it and she said Los Angeles wasn't safe. This actress was dating a famous Australian who is in the social pages regularly.

I'll tell you one of her businesses. She did up a house her parents own in the Eastern suburbs. She spent so much money the rent will pay back the amount she spent in about 50 years. This house has harbor views.

You get really good business opportunities. What you don't get is elite level privilege.

I also have family that live in Greenacre. There is a world of difference.

Wonder if @The Pom has any updates on Mosses and anything on James if we are looking to lock him up longer , would love a vpbit of Pom update
I think Aitasi will remain on a temporary contract this year. given our depth in the forwards it makes sense as he's a little way down the pecking order. would tip him to debut sometime this year and potentially move into the top 30 in 2024 with the likes of Saukuru, Seyfarth and Simpkins all off contract.

I'm reading a really interesting history of Barcelona FC. So fascinating about sport and teamwork and coaching etc. But there's a quote about how players only start saving money once they are 26. Before then they spend everything they earn. Barca suggests (seriously) they just put money in the bank and leave it there. Don't invest a thing. The amount of scammers and 'great business opportunities' that players attract means if a player can end sport with basically what they earned, or a bit less, they are well ahead of the majority of their teammates.
