John Bateman #268

For any who doubted his impact and output I hope you are converted.
I noticed a lot of personal connection between API and JB yesterday, I think they’re on the same wavelength.
Maybe an afternoon on the grog with those 2 , LB and AD might bear some fruit.
Both legit winners eh.
Big fan of both of em.

Both backed themselves for a try too.

I think once we rid ourselves of the obvious problem we may see some improvement especically with the leaders we've brought in.

Both Api and Jonneh know what it takes to win and are leading our team from the front doing the 1% things that make a difference hopefully soon enough the rest of the players follow I've noticed also Kepoa ans Blore attached to Jonnehs hip and they've gotten better each time we've seen them

He has been great so far.

I would honestly just go to him and ask him to recruit three hard nosed northern brits he feels would make it and can be relied on.

Then sign them.

Bateman is a winner.

Twal...nice bloke...is a loser.

Bateman threw the ball back and Twal had a chance to dive on it or kick it back to us...instead he stared at it, did neither, and Melb got it.

At Canberra or Wigan, Bateman would have ripped his teammate big time for that lack of effort.

But Twal is Twal...nice bloke, dopey, everyone's friend.

But it won't be long before Bateman implodes playing with Twal and Brooks and co. We need to surround him with hard edged blokes he can go to war with.

Bateman has got injury prone written all over him. It was fun while it lasted and I hope I'm wrong but got a feeling we will be paying him to watch more than play.

Bateman has been our best over the past two weeks. How long until he realises his efforts are futile, thanks to our inept halves, and he too decides to dial it in each week?

Way too early for that kind of talk , I think he will earn your praise eventually
I'm not having a go at how he played - thought he was good - but have genuine concerns that his body can't sustain the rigours of the competition

In resent years..comparing the WTs the top 8 teams, we had (and still have) a weak 1-5. Particularly defensively. On top of that our second rowers have also been poor defensively.

We know Bateman can cause headaches for the oppositions defence the way he changes angles.
But for me…if he helps make our right edge defence strong and makes the jobs of the centre and winger outside of him easier then the $ we’ve paid and the length of the contract is well worth it.

I’m sick of having a weak defensive side (whether its the left or right) knowing the if the opposition get quality ball on that side they’ll score and we have to score 2 to get ahead.
With Bateman, I’Pap and Blore as edge defenders this year..the job will be easier for our centres and wingers.
He's worth it......we are not !!!!!!

He has been good for this team , we just need to win a game and I feel they may go on a lot better , if we win Newcastle game I think we win last night storm we’re average , problem we have our packs is going ok , it’s our points scorers , we don’t have any outside Appi
Confidence would be at an all time low

In a further update on Saturday, The Daily Telegraph’s David Riccio reported on Triple M that Bateman did not end up needing scans and that it was a rib problem he had suffered.

“He’s in good spirits and I expect him to play next week,” Riccio said.
The way Riccio is talking is as if he's part of the WT medical team .. or freakin head coach.
