Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Api, IP, Klemmer, Hastings last year, Bateman. We can get players. We have Pole, Blore, Matamua and Tupou as well.

We just need some players of our new signings in our backline and especially our 1, 6 and 7. If we had a marquee half and fullback we'd be a different team.
I'm hoping we can just get a controlling half, doesn't need to be Andrew Johns just someone who can do their job and a half decent fullback, surely there has to be a young up and coming player in reserves or qcup who wants a run, but don't reckon they will sign a fullback though because I think Bula is guaranteed it now, no matter how raw he is he can't be any worse than Douhi. Wouldn't be surprised to read Douhi is released within the next month.

Campbell or Kennedy at 1

In the halves, without scraping the bottom of the barrel, you go for a bloke who has shown he belongs in the 7, like Tricky, or Williams, coupled with a Taafe.

Or you get a bloke at 7 like Pezet, Hawkins, who look good but less proven, and a more established 6.

It ain't that hard, you don't need 1.5 million and you don't need Mitchel Pearce (although I'd take him to the of 24 provided we have a new 6 and 1).

Club is literally stuffed. There are heaps possibilities with what's available, you could literally build dozens of spines that are better than ours. And remember, what's available means who will come to play full time NRL and at what price, nothing to do with contracts elsewhere.

@Demps literally did the hard work for them a few pages back.

I honestly think we need Andrew Johns and Billy Slater in our team to turn us into a quality team. I think we are that far off. The problem is atm we have duds in those positions and any improvement would be a step in the right direction.

Hastings right now would be a significant upgrade for us and that would enable Brooks and Laurie to fight it out for the running 6 spot.

I cannot believe how poor our a spine is. It has to be one of the worst in our history

I’m praying Douhie is released asap, just don’t know who’d want him after his last month of playing dodge tackle?

My issue is how long it takes to get it sorted, it's only a matter of time before our new recruits drop their heads and say bugger it and start just turning up for their pay cheque in true Tigers fashion.

He'll be on above 600k. I can't see any club picking him up. I can't see him making it in the NRL at this point. I was hopeful he could become a marquee 6 for us.

I honestly haven't seen a player regress so badly in his career from promising up and comer to dud player.

It's strange, we had so much hope with a new look pack that apart from last night was equal to the first 4 teams we played and all it did with the extra space it provided our spine instead of helping them shine as you'd expect, it potentially ended 2 N.R.L careers by exposing how inept and impotent they are with and without the ball.

Ok so ive had a night to digest the tripe that was served up last night along with the previous 4 rounds. Our 1,6 and 7 are reserve grade standard, how the hell Sheens think Doueihi is the answer at the back is beyond me the man is senile. It wouldnt surprise me if the media reports of Benji having opposing views in the background is true.
It might be time for Tim to take a step back things werent good enough under Madge and they are no better if not worse with arguably better cattle at least in the forwards. But with all the improvements we've made in the pack they were walked through like they werent there last night. Things need to change and change quickly, we need to bite the bullet and pay the cash for transfer fee's from England. Try and get Williams or Dodd try and get Welsby out here put the Brooks Doueihi experiment to bed Brooks isnt going to change multiple coaches have tried and failed Doueihi has never done anything of note anyway its a shame we resigned him more bad management.
Finally someone has to go for me its Pascoe the fish rot's from the head, thank you for the COE but its time to go. No one else in sporting administration could over see such mediocrity and survive. To put it bluntly these performances must be costing money in the form of sponsorship ect so we need to arrest the slide and do it sharpish.

Don’t know if they are always a cut above talent wise as some of our young guys, just think they are given the chance and guidance to thrive more in a good/successful culture.
They recruit players that are good humans before they are good footballers. By that they recruit guys that have the attitude to put the work in and build themselves up.
Bronson Garlick an underrated example but Josh King is probably the most high profile example.

I think we need to sack Pascoe he’s had his chance and failed time after time then work towards getting benji the best assist coaches in the game next to him to help him get success in 25. Then work on getting the best halfback money can buy. Then promote bula to a top 30 spot and play him the remainder of the year to give him experience

Wayne would take him at the Dolphins and prob turn him into a star.
Why we chop and change is beyond me. If you're in the team to play 6 and you're shit, either you go back to reserves and earn redemption or you get moved on.
We don't owe AD anything. His mum doesn't own the club. No point in being here

ROSTER OVERHAUL
Released: Maumalo
Off contract & not to be resigned: Brooks, Staines, Talau, Wakeham, Laurie,
Seyfarth, Api Saukuru & Tuki Simpkins.
Off contract 24 & 25 to be shopped around: Doueihi, Nofoaluma & Sione Fainu.
They lefts 8 backs & 4 forwards to come into the squad. My suggestions to fill these spots are as follows:
Players are off contract in 23 & 24.
Backs: K.Weekes, T.Jenkins, Kayal Iro, G.Williams, J.Campbell, A.Clune (back up half) & M.Hiroti (back up outside back).
Forwards: J.Curran & Jack Johns.
Leaving 1 back & 2 forward spots open to promote from within the club.

Noone, on fox Mal Meninga was laughing literally about how poor he was at fullback. Maybe he could get a gig in the Super League. He won't be getting 900k though 🤣

Slater, one of the smartest minds around the game today - suggested AD to lock.

Cmon now... he can't tackle, he's scared of contract (so is Laurie) he can't hang in the pack until he toughens up.

AD has proved he's a myth, I can't see a position in the team for him going forward.

When discussing Signing suggestions, its important to note that after releasing Ken, we are $1m under the Cap THIS SEASON. Awesome Recruitment team!!!
The Club has forfeited 2023 just like they did 2022.

You do realize Ken already was paid a portion of his salary right, the only reason he moved on was to free up a roster spot.
