Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

He's an interesting option, not worth over $1m a season though. If you can get him for like $800-900k per season over 3 years you'd take it.
I would pay 1.4M/year for Ben Hunt on a 2 year contract. He's worth it. He's the only reason the Dragons aren't contending for the spoon this year. Without him they'd be in a similar position to us, on a grand total of zero wins.

He's barely been injured in his entire career. Missed a few games in 2021 due to receiving a late hit but that's about it. A pretty low risk signing with great reward possible!

Would definitely be having a convo with Hunt if Hook leaves.

If Hook stays Hunt won’t leave so would be a wasted convo.

I remember years ago Luke Covell and a Swans player whose name escapes me had a prosthetic ACL put in. Can't remember what the name of the procedure was but they got back within a couple of months I think, not a full year lay off.
Its called LARS surgery.

Not denying he can't break a game open, but he is also capable of some real head scratchers too. I think you put him next to Brooks and might be surprised how similar a player they are.
Hunt has played at higher heights no doubt, but for a long time there was a perception that he would shrink when the spotlight was on him and it wasn't just because of his infamous dropped ball in the GF.
I don't think any $1.4m signing is low risk, and 2 years down the track from next year is when basically everyone is off contract, if he fails your in an even worse position than we are now.
Would love to have him here but considering Munster signed for somewhere around $900k, I could not justify $1.4m for Benny.

Yeah I remember that too, haven’t heard of many doing it since, professional sports people have everything at their disposal now.

Hunt doesn't want out
Just has declared he has little desire to start again under a new coach
Hunt signed a contract extension in October which will keep him at the Dragons until the end of 2025
Only in relation to Hook and potential new coaching staff at the dragons. Read on… Hunt goes on to say that if Hook gets punted he might re-assess his future at the club (to summarise)

Gee's the dogs are having some bad luck... Kikau out for 12 weeks with a torn pec suffered whilst training. They have a massive injury toll atm...
Just saw there's currently 52 long-term injury casualties in the NRL.

Feel clubs would be hard pressed to start loaning/trading players in these circumstances, as suggested by a few. Take Melbourne for example who are playing Munster at fullback.

I think the speed of play in todays games has a big factor and believe we need more interchanges. to account for injuries or concussions.

Some of these players earn there money these days.

I think the biggest issue is the 10 metre rule. Now I'm not saying we should get rid of it, as I'm not sure what impact that would have on the game, but I'm confident there would be much less "mistakes" when talking about high tackles if it went back to 5 metres.

Anyone know what the concussion rates are like in Rugby Union? I'd imagine there are much less, and put that down to the 5 metre rule.

Has a football brain, would be a change around our attack

They can have Laurie, we can have Pezet for the rest of 2023. Win-win.

Iv been hyper critical of him this year, I never want to see any of the guys get injured though, it would be a crappy way for his career to end, I hope for his sake it's only a minor tear. It's no way for a players career to end. Reminds me of Fulton, that guy never got the retirement he deserved.
Interesting comparison, nothing about Doueihi reminds me of Bozo.
