Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I don't claim to have extensive knowledge of the juniors, but I think Alex Isdale the controlling half out of the youngsters. Conti has a good boot on him for a kid and has had a habit of owning clutch moments in games over the years. Not sure about his ability to stay in a game as a director. I notice Isdale do it more than Conti. I think both are 17.
Isdale is 16 this year.

Conti is 17 this year.

Isdale had a pretty poor season in Matts, whereas Conti looked quite good.

Isdale is still eligible for another year of Matts next year though, where he'll hopefully improve.

What I find interesting -
Every off contract player gets some media hype around their future.

Past few days it's been Jack Wighton, before that we've had Moses, Munster and Brandon Smith speculation for ages about what they may or may not do.

There is no hype around Brooks future.
No reports that... will he go here or will he go there?
It's crickets.

There's no "Brooks was seen at Canberra airport today, or meeting with Ricky at a Woden coffee shop"

Nothing.

He has been playing like a guy who knows his future is sorted - doesn't need to impress or aim up, as there is no uncertainty.

It feels like the club has already got the paperwork sorted and Brooksy isn't going anywhere, set for life - one club legend.

Just how it appears to me on the surface - I hope I am wrong.
I can see the likes of the Rooster or Storm taking him for peanuts bring him off the bench or as back up even The dolphins

Even if Brooks does stay, he’s gonna go down as a one club player for all the wrong reasons. No finals, no premiership, no Origin and no international footy despite being eligible for Wales and still hasn’t played. Ultimately regardless Brooks plays his whole career with us or he does go elsewhere, he’s going down as a failure of the club and the game.

Canberra would be a good fit for Brooks. Not too far from home considering he has never lived or played outside of his childhood area and now with a young family. Stuart is also a good coach for him enough nuture with a tough edge and has a relationship with Sheens that might help with the transition in getting it done.
I can see it as a definite possibility and might also appeal to Brooks who may be over the constant criticism and prepared to have a crack a testing himself somewhere else - away from Sydney but not too far.
Well if Sticky couldn’t turn him into a decent halfback then no one could.

He reportedlly was on his way to Newcastle before Sheens gave them Hastings instead. Nothing has improved here for Brooks with the new favourable coaching style and no Moses coming, it might just be enough for him to take the leap whether Sheens wants him to or not.

You’d think he’d wanna go and try somewhere else just to prove you’re a good footballer and that it was the club holding you back all this time.

Looks good in theory, but I think the Dolphins are actually pretty happy with JMK at hooker, some pundits even have him as the NZ #9 this year.
I like that the club has tried trades over the past couple years, but I think unless we are going for a mid-year swap to fill a hole that we just need to focus on good old fashion new signings. Looks like a lot of the dead wood is getting culled from the backline so that's a start.
The Dolphins have just extended JMK for another couple of seasons.

You must be a relative of his. He's slow, with poor vision and worse execution.
Are you talking about Camroux? If so your very wrong about slow. He has always been one of the fastest in any competition he has played. Melinda Gainsford didn't want to personally coach for no reason. You may be right about the other stuff, I'm not sure, but I do know he has speed.

Just finished a night out in Darwin, a few of the broncos' boys were out and about. Ran into Billy Walters, seems a top bloke wished the Tigers well for the season and hoped I had a good year as a supporter. Bittersweet as it's yet another player of the majority who have left the tigers and improved greatly. People go on about high profile recruits, but our culture needs a reset desperately. However that may be.
Good on Billy Walters. He hasn't changed as a player, simply found a team that is able to utilise his skillset better.

Just seems like it may already be done.

The Brooks to Raiders stuff - couldn't even find a mention of that on the Raiders forum. Imaginary rumour mill.

I think if any club was silly enough to ask for Brooks they would've been informed he isn't available.

Sad state of affairs.
Maybe punters are trying to Will it into existence

If Ricky Stuart has had a history of helping halfbacks improve I must have missed it. Ricky is the worst coach possible for Brooks
Canberra has had a history of difficulty in recruiting key players since the glory days and has had to settle for the ones they could get and looking to England. A risk for both that they might take.

I think it was something like 31 deg before kickoff so when they'll doing the Anzac ceremony, they were literally all sweating
Enjoying the broncos style of attack, their overall game is entertaining
They have speedsters across the park
All play gritty and tough
They're at the top for a reason
