Luke Brooks #167

Brooks would be the perfect reggies player to bring in if there were injuries. Should be nowhere near a first grade pitch otherwise. Hunt and SJ would make this team top 5 in an instant. Its pretty obvious to all but paws and Earl that the Tigers weakness is points = a shit halfback.
But we all know if Brooks is here he is playing NRL not reserve grade, he has never been dropped, and if he is playing NRL we are not making the 8

Kinda feel for Luke because playing 200 games is a remarkable achievement for any player but his whole career is haunted by his failure to live up to his potential & lack of success. I really hope this is last year playing at the club.... for everyones sake he just needs to move on.

he could be here as a 6 with Shaun Johnson at 7
or as a 7 with Schuster at 6
or sezer at 7 Brooks at 6
7. Ben Hunt 6. Brooks
plenty of options or not here at all
7. johnson 6. schuster
7. Hunt 6. schuster

Just saying Flanagan ain't an upgrade

Flanagan please, careful what you wish for
I was a Brooks critic last year and wanted him shipped to Newcastle, but I bought the hype from you and a few others that now he has a good pack the real Luke Brooks will stand up, well the real Brooks sucks just like the old one, I am dirty on myself for buying in on the hype in the offseason.
We can't keep just doing the same thing over and over hoping for a different result, I don't want Flanagan, but if it means Brooks goes, then I will live with it.
No young half is going to come here to play under study to Brooks, because they know they will never get a go because Brooks never gets dropped and is barely injured.
Like wise an experienced half will baulk at coming and playing with Brooks because they will know they will have to do it all by themselves, it will be a hard sell either way, but an easier sell if there is no Brooks in the picture

at best Brooks has 2 more years max before Large is probably ready as a 6 to take over.
You get 2 years out of Brooks as a 6 on the cheap and sign a 7

If I hadn't lost all confidence in this club already I have now.... what's it going to take to realise he is just simply not good enough. Poor bloke is probably gonna get abused tomorrow because of this as well, the fans & Luke don't deserve this.
You are right,Luke does not deserve to be abused but the people who made the decision to keep him do deserve it.Hopefully Sheens gets the message loud and clear

I don't want him either tbh Jed 🤣 I personally feel he's only thriving because he's back playing in his home country.... take him out of that environment & he struggles imo.
that is my fear, sharks Johnson is not good agree with him Johnson is playing now at nz. if we miss Johnson you might see 7. Brooks 6. Schuster I am not as enthused about that pairing.

You’re a fool to ever think that they were going let him walk away
Every coach has doubled down on brooks like a bad punter
Madge was the only one that even remotely dropped him even though only to the bench but ended in eggshell’s.

When you get to choose between a Porsche, BMW & Ferrari or take the Hyundai, you never take the Hyundai.

When it's a Hyundai, Kia or LVT to choose from, however, the Hyundai is in the conversation.

Brooks is your Hyundai. Our potential options are a broken down 1986 Audi (Johnson) or a BMW with oil leaks & 3 wheels (Schuster).

Until someone BETTER is available, Brooks is where we are at.

don't understand why we aren't trying to work out a swap deal with Parra & get Sanders while they get Joffa.... we are run by idiots mate
I'd love to hear that call.
"Hi, it's Parramatta here. We understand you're willing to consider releasing Ofehangaue despite his inflated contract. Well great news: we're sufficiently desperate for a middle forward that we might be prepared to take him off you."
"Oh great. Yeah, that could work. But you're going to have to give us your prized young half as well."
Click. Dial tone.

Good to hear that sanity prevails at the Tigers. You have to make him an offer. The issue will be will we get trumped but I hope Brooksy remains loyal.

Brooks is just a very well paid John Morris. A competent and somewhat stoic first grade halfback. Not a leader or a communicator.

I think pressure and expectations from all directions haven't helped. When I watch him play I can't help but see someone more focused on his individual performance and not someone always looking to bring other players into the game. (I don't mean that he is selfish - but just focused on avoiding criticism)

Also, to be fair, has he ever had anything remotely close to more than 1 or more current rep/origin/international backs to pass the ball out to since 2017, if ever??
That's a pretty good comparison. I actually compare Brooks to Hunt as well, but with less skill. Good defence, tenacious, just keeps going and the strength is a good passing game. I think Brooks is better with big moments whereas Hunt chokes a little more. Otherwise, Hunt's overall skill level and ability to stay in the game is exemplerary.
