Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

You not worried about his injury history?
Yes that is a worry, but we need a lot better than what we currently have as back up halves.
Jake Arthur would have been a great addition, I can’t understand why we would not have tried to get him, he’s no chance of overtaking Cherry-Evans or Schuster when they are fit and healthy.

For those saying "Laurie is in our best 17"...have you watched State Cup? He has been atrocious. Barely even bothers on kicks, meanders across in cover D, and in attack just does whatever...chip for himself when up 6 late in a game and need field position...

He is a (gifted) park footy player...would be great in a bush league.

Nowhere near NRL level discipline or desire. I doubt gets more than a min from a desperate club...maybe a train and trial.
You forgot to mention that he goes okay down at the skate park.🤣

Madge / Hartigan era truly was horrific...anyone who gave Laurie 500 last year of his deal should never work in the game again.

The fact we knocked back his manager's long term deal for 600 or so should go down as one of the club's best ever moments. Madge and co would have jumped for joy and extended him for years.
💯

I don't think I need to. There are reasons why this meeting could have happened that aren't "management meddling in recruitment" - that's all I need to demonstrate, as no evidence has been offered that this meeting was a case of management meddling in recruitment. Do you have any?

History is my evidence and I would heavily prefer those two dunderheads to have the extreme minimum to do with anything recruitment related.
They have proven ad nauseam that they are completely incompetent without a babysitter.

You’re right, but maybe there are other cards to fall that will make this move make sense. I get the feeling once one card falls there will be plenty more…and I think we will be in the mix

I don't like the idea of us strengthening another teams roster. Joffa was one of our best players last year and still is only 27 years of age, entering his prime years. Parra obviously see something in him and I think we are stupid for letting him go.
I don’t either, If parra didn’t loose RCG long term they wouldn’t be interested.

Yep, it reminds me of when Tedesco debuted. Big wraps on him but I never saw him play as a Junior so had no idea. Of course, he busted his knee 1st game and we had to wait a year to learn more. With Bula there was some footage of him although nothing to write home about. But Sheens flagged him early and I have to say there's a real Benji like spark with this kid. He got his first TRY last night but was everywhere. Count the number of times he was at dummy half - his support play is enormous - bye bye Laurie.
Bula is a weapon, he’s in everything and extremely hungry for work. Is going to be a big star in the future if he can stay fit and healthy. Hopefully he and junior tupou stay on with us for many years to come

So we can put a line through young Arthur as a potential Brooks replacement. Gone to Manly, which will probably be good for him, away from the associated pressure of his father.
One less half to contemplate.

Brooks will be here as a 7 or 6 question is do we end up with Schuster, metcalfe, Hawkins, Sezer or someone else to partner him

Wakeham ????

Wakeham has done a good job and his kicking is a bonus, but sadly he will not win you a comp or make you a top four team…and that has to be the focus of our recruitment people
I know, was really only joking but am very interested to see how far he can develop this season. Was brought in as a nobody but making some contributions now, plus kicking goals.
Think he could do with a little bit of sprint training to sharpen him up a bit !

I wouldn’t be too sure about that. Confidence is a funny old thing. He might really find his mojo if we continue to play this way.
What I do like about the kid, he doesn’t seem rushed.
