Brandon Wakeham #267

He's definitely worth re-signing, at worst he's arguably the best back-up half in the league and at best he develops into a decent starter.

It's him or Brooks though if we want to be a serious finals contender. Neither of them really take control of the game. Brooks is too passive whereas I feel Wakeham is very much a confidence player who'll get involved when the team/he is doing well but goes missing a bit if he makes an error. I think given he is only 24 and hasn't had an extended run in first grade, it's conceivable Wakeham improves the flaws in his game. Brooks is who he is at this point. While I think Brooks is probably still more valuable now, if we're talking next year and beyond I'd probably rather Wakeham when also factoring in his gun goal kicking too.

Side note - Good grief he is slow
He's actually somewhat quick off the mark but looks like he's in quicksand after 10 metres. Can we fix this? Lol

The argument that it's Brooks or Wakeham....not sure if that is true. There are a few successful teams over the last few seasons where the direction comes from the 9 & 1 as much as the 6 & 7.

Bula & Api could have a more significant impact on direction, or ease the pressure, or just simply even out the talent level to make Brooks & Wakeham viable- until there is better.

Da Silva is clearly looked at as the future at 9. Fainu, if the rumours are true, could be an upgrade in the halves in time. Bula is there already. I think Brooks & Wakeham could do a job while Api is there & we develop the squad around them.

And we have no choice but to stick with him.

I'm baffled at how slow he is. The Campbell try in the first half Wakeham looked like an 8 month pregnant women trying to get moving.

I think losing Brooks and Api, we won't win another game now.
You say that like we are in with a chance with Brooks playing. DId squat all tonight, the game was well over before he went off in the dying stages. Api is the real loss. Zero chance of any direction or points without Api on the field.
