Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Brooks > Cows
Townsend > Tigers
Fainu > Tigers

WIN WIN WIN

We’ll need an experienced halfback to mentor Fainu. With Chad and Benji there I think it works.

No confidence in the club to execute it.
LIke NO!

Like hell no. Like Orange Juice in Raspberry Cordial No.

Next to Cronk, Townsend is a good organising halfback. nothing flash but can get a teams positioning right.

If Fainu has flair and good game sense, pairing him with Townsend would teach him nothing. Too different.

In agreement. I’d also bring Bayley Sironen home who is off contract if we released Jake Simpkin. Bayley would be an ideal bench utility who can relieve Api at dummy half & also cover back row & lock.
yea, I like what Jake Simpkin has done... I truly hope our club releases him and releases him into a good home.
Rui, Da Silva and Api should be way more hooker then our team needs.

Ofcourse though we are the tigers, So Mitch Rein, Issac Liu and whatever other nr 9 washups... Come of down!

Im guessing you havent watched much NSW Cup if you think Rua is an option?

Metcalfe's passing isn't exactly inspiring. Lots of wobbly passes & floaters.

No doubt he can run & back-up, but I have great doubts he's any kind of organiser.

Te Mare Martin, for mine, is a much more valuable player to the Tigers, particularly if Fainu/Large etc are the future.

I can see Doueihi becoming the new message board Brooks at this rate.

He had a handful of poor games, when the whole team was playing poor. He's also been close to our only effective attacking option since being a Tiger. He's rated by most teams/coaches/pundits as one of the players to watch when you come up against the Tigers.

I'm not saying he's Wally Lewis reborn. But some reality is required- he's a talented athlete that covers multiple positions. He's 23 years old. And he seems to actually have an affinity with the club. Now, if he's a 5/8, fullback, centre or whatever- he's a superior TALENT to the likes of Kepeoa, Cogger, Townsend, Talau etc. These are some of the names we either have, or are contemplating having. I know who I think is the better player.

I personally hope he comes back from his injury largely uneffected. If he can be our athletic 5/8 outside of whoever we install at #7- great! Unlike Wakeham etc, he has actually SHOWN he can be a dominant player on the field. It's not like we are overflowing with talent in the club.

Mate he’s done.
He came back poorly from the second ACL. He won’t even be first grade standard after his third.
Time to move on.

I've never been a Doueihi fan and can't work out why so many pundits rate him. But I still agree with almost all you've said. If he can get back to his best, and he has age on his side to do so, he has shown more ability than most of the names being discussed.
Only point I'd really contend is him having any particular affinity for the club.

I think I was a Doueihi fan for about 4 minutes a while back, but - harsh as it may seem after coming back from the acl prior - I just don't see him as the guy a top 8 team has as 5/8th; I think he's a bottom team's 6.

He can play practically every backline position, but he's not that good at any.

He seemed to have a tantrum when he wasn't picked at 6 in first grade, allegedly put himself on the market for $900k (likely not 100% accurate, but that's what was reported), and makes poor decisions trying to make big plays for himself when the side isn't travelling well that never seem to pay off.

I think the perceived "affinity for the club" is just that he's a passionate player, i.e., I don't think it would be specific to the tigers, but one thing I don't doubt about him is he does always give his all.

... Which is the unfortunate synopsis of both the club's highest paid halves: they try their best, but they just don't quite have what it takes.

Not at this club anyway.

Rui is never going to make NRL, if he does we are in trouble.
