Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

“St George can’t play” Allan Langer after the Broncos beat the Dragons in the Grand Final.
Was that in response to something?
Otherwise it's a grub thing to say. You just won the Grand final and you have to rub it into the loosing side. ... Oh yea Allan "tripper" Langer.

My post was about the possibility of the Fainu brothers considering playing for Saints, and I was reminded of the old Langer sledge after the Broncos beat Saints in that G/F; silly attempt at being sarcastic about Saints, nothing more.

Has anybody ever stopped and thought recruitment is an extremely difficult task at a club such as Wests Tigers who have dug themselves a massive hole due to lack of on field success over the past 10 years ?
It wouldn’t matter if we had Bellamy coach, Richardson as head of football etc they would still have an uphill battle convincing proven quality NRL players to come on board.
This doesn’t mean it’s all doom and gloom for the next 10 years as it should be a simple process of building our depth to be so strong we have players competing for every position with the possibility some of our younger players will breakout and become the stars we need to become an NRL force.
How is that done ? It’s not rocket science, we need to urgently release or get rid of all our dead wood who continue to let us down more often than not, particularly the ones being over paid for their ability.
Replace them in our top 30 with younger hungry players who are consistently dominating in NSW or Qld Cup, maybe even some who are starting in Jersey Flegg.
Add a couple of players who we might be able to sign from rival NRL clubs who do not quite fit the jigsaw puzzle to be regulars in that NRL squad, but are very good players and are young enough to continue to improve.
I think Blake Taafe should be a high priority.
He always plays with 💯 commitment, high energy and injects himself into the game at high speed. Yes he’s no superstar, but as I say we are not getting superstars already at the top of their game, we need hunt realistic targets who play with high energy such as Taafe, possibly Connor Tracey as a centre etc
Although very risky as he’s being let go due to a poor attitude and I’m certain clubs such as the Roosters will target him, so will be a very hard sell to come to us, but we desperately need strike power so Zac Lomax should be another target who we try and build his ego and yell him we want him as a major part of our roster overhaul.
I’m near certain Benji & Farah know what they need and what they are looking for, I believe they need to be given full control and final say in everything to do with the coaching structure, player recruitment etc.
If the club come out and announced they have full control to see what they can do to find success over the next 24 months would anyone be unhappy ?

Sack them all.

Alright boys and girls

Here is the positive out of tonight

The management will be looking for some positive news to deflect that performance

Which means they will want to lock the Fainu’s down asap and let it out to the media bc the media is gonna hammer them this week for sure

It’s going to be ugly

So I think if we don’t have a signature from the boys by mid week - I’d say they are having second thoughts

And yea who would blame them lol
The only positive out of last night (and I haven’t watched WT for last 6 weeks) is that it will make it clear to Sheens and Benji that they should butt out and leave Fulton to do his job as he is at present our only hope to get some reasonable cattle. For me Recruiting him has been one of the very few wins for the club but of course ally time will tell.

WT recruitment and retention has been a disaster and I shake my head when I think what some of the grand past players from our two clubs would be thinking about the situation the rebadged club are in today.
