I disagree somewhat. When Sheens pulled the trigger on Madge, and appointed Noddy, the Club as a whole, gave up on 2022, we won 1 of our remaining 12 games. While I understand people questioning the release of Joffa, I think the maths of it is what makes the most sense- having a player on the bench on $600k isn't good business. This wasn't a 2023 decision so much as a 2023 ONWARDS decision. It's easy to blast the front office, I see it every day, but for once I think it shows a plan- no more overspending & ruining the cap mix. No more Mbye's on $800k. Brooks' offer was "low", but probably close to what he was worth. No to Schuster on $1.2m or whatever was reported.
If the club has worked out how to manage contracts under the cap- this should be a sign of encouragement.
I like Joffa. People on here forget how often he was called a 'plodder' under Madge. But he was always leading the defensive line, always looking for a hit-up. I miss him. BUT. Was he worth $600k on our roster? Take that $600k & secure a couple of our promising juniors.
Might also have something to do with losing our other player who was also our best player in 3 recent seasons?Might have something to do with tossing a player to the curb who was the best and fairest last year abx recommitted to the club only last Sept after an horrendous season.
Whether or not it was a good financial decision or not it was appalling for morale and culture.
The squad in 23 is a huge improvement on 22. We had 2 Blues in the squad. But the confusing part for me is when measured solely on for and against points, it looks no different?I disagree somewhat. We released Ofahengaue from an already weak squad, and have continued to choose the Prince of Plodders, Alex Seyfarth instead.
My issue is, a weak squad in 2023 became even weaker, that's another year basically forfeited. We may land Fainu, and I'll be happy with that, but all these exceptional juniors we have will head for the hills if they don't debut into a competitive side.
Brooks fans thinking "There's no earthly way I can show this guy's a good player through facts, stats, results of his good play, things that are measurable. I know , I'll use something totally opinion based like a performance of the team when he's not in it (Ignoring all other prevailing factors) and call that a victory. Something that pesky facts can't disprove."Might also have something to do with losing our other player who was also our best player in 3 recent seasons?
We saw the level of respect the team has for Brooks with their 66 point demolition of Cowboys.
Also Joffas last/ farewell game - and havnt won one since. Make of it what you will but the dumping players mid season who want to stay at a struggling club that others don't want to play at - i.e Brooks - is the height of stupidity. More so when they now see him playing for a team who are still competing for the premiership while the blokes left behind are getting smashed.Might also have something to do with losing our other player who was also our best player in 3 recent seasons?

I agree, it's our lack of depth and the fact that most, me included, thought Brooks and Douehi would thrive with this forward pack and working with Api.The squad in 23 is a huge improvement on 22. We had 2 Blues in the squad. But the confusing part for me is when measured solely on for and against points, it looks no different?
Roster went forwards but coaching went backwards. The squad in 23 is a huge improvement on 22. We had 2 Blues in the squad. But the confusing part for me is when measured solely on for and against points, it looks no different?
Roster went forward, coaching out of action, halves same old rubbish until injury then Old Mother Hubbard is the only one left.Roster went forwards but coaching went backwards.
Roster still has some work to do.Roster went forwards but coaching went backwards.
Incorrect spelling, we only sign pillows.Pellow
Just for the dummies, what was the point? No.
He has continued to argue for six weeks that Ofahengaue should've been replaced when the very goal of releasing him wasn't to find a replacement.
So it's a moot point.
Criticising the club for not achieving an outcome that they weren't trying to achieve is redundant.
And a buried issue.
Move on.
Tupou won't learn anything by dumping him to NSW Cup. Need to take the good with the bad and hope he improves his ball security. It sounds like the Manly raid is on!
Latu and Samuela Latu and possibly Fultons son. Could be a decent bench player.
Just need tricky Trindal and Staines to resign.
I think Noffas time is up and so is Nadens.
Junior toupu needs to practice basic bomb catching, he fumbles at least 1 a game. Has talent but needs to go back to NsW cup for a couple weeks.
Simpkin needs to be used as trade bait…
How about 3 Kelly-Barnes medals in the last 5 years?Brooks fans thinking "There's no earthly way I can show this guy's a good player through facts, stats, results of his good play, things that are measurable. It really is an admission of surrender.
Don’t agree, sending him back to reserve grade gives him time away from the grind of NRL. It can burn kids out. He’s been off his game for weeks now, looks tired. We just don’t have any depth or he would have already been pushed back.Tupou won't learn anything by dumping him to NSW Cup. Need to take the good with the bad and hope he improves his ball security.
He will be elite if he is developed properly.
