Agree. Dropping players is fine provided it is made clear what they need to work on and what you value in them as a player and instill a belief that they will be back.

Was it to get more cash to spend on players that don't want to come here or what, we have to spend the cap regardless, whether it's to buy new players or upgrade ones we already have, but we have to have 30 signed as well.

I think it depends on the player. He's currently down on confidence and if he's confidence player, dropping him will only make things worse in his mind.

I don't think he's burnt out, he just needs to work on his ball security.

Example: Tuki Simpkins had a lot of potential 2 years ago, after he was dropped, he never recovered.

While I understand people questioning the release of Joffa, I think the maths of it is what makes the most sense- having a player on the bench on $600k isn't good business. This wasn't a 2023 decision so much as a 2023 ONWARDS decision. It's easy to blast the front office, I see it every day, but for once I think it shows a plan- no more overspending & ruining the cap mix. No more Mbye's on $800k. Brooks' offer was "low", but probably close to what he was worth. No to Schuster on $1.2m or whatever was reported.

If the club has worked out how to manage contracts under the cap- this should be a sign of encouragement.

I like Joffa. People on here forget how often he was called a 'plodder' under Madge. But he was always leading the defensive line, always looking for a hit-up. I miss him. BUT. Was he worth $600k on our roster? Take that $600k & secure a couple of our promising juniors.

Losing is even worse business and over the last 12 months we are excelling at that.

He may not work out but at least they are trying , what do we do NOTHING, they say they have been trying to get a 1/2 in all year but what have they come up with , bugger all , SO what is the point of having a massive war chest of money if u don’t spent it , sexton could have worked out or at least been a back up . I am really sick of us cutting players or moving players on without us getting nothing in

It’s an unusual confidence you have in that considering a myriad of good halves knocked back that very opportunity, including Brooks.

They knock us back because we have a very poor reputation and presence amongst the NRL.

We are the laughing stock, years of making stupid decisions.

That’s exactly what happens to 20 year old players in their first season in the NRL a few good games then it eventually wears them down it happens to most first year young players.
Those young kids will bounce back and become regular first grade players, just be patient (but hurry).😂😂

Joffa in particular, you would have mentioned in nothing short of 20 comments, all the same, along the lines of 'we let Joffa go and replaced him with ______'

Surely you know that is not the way that these things work. A new signing is not contingent on a release and a release is not contingent on a new signing. The two have nothing to do with each other.

How often does a like for like replacement happen across the league?

People have spelled out, extremely clearly, that this release wasn't designed as a replacement, it was designed as cap relief for a bench player.

Whether or not you agree with the decision is irrelevant, it was never designed as a replacement type signing, so why do you keep mentioning the same, tired, old copy and paste?

Unfortunately tigers are not in a position to let good players go without a replacement otherwise they are just weakening an already struggling side. Plus they have to fill their squad by a set date and will likely just upgrade a junior who may or may not make the grade 🤷

Got to separate those who have a sense of entitlement & those who are willing to work hard to learn and develop.

I posted earlier Sexton was to come to the Bulldogs from the Gold Coast until Covid hit and he stayed on the Coast. In view of this, our chances of acquiring him were probably not as good as the Bulldogs. We may also not have been interested due to other plans which I tend to believe.

Junior toupu needs to practice basic bomb catching, he fumbles at least 1 a game. Has talent but needs to go back to NsW cup for a couple weeks.

I know Brayden Trindall seems like the next one up from NSW Cup to be a class NRL half but I am worried about his missed tackle count in NSW Cup.

If we do land an attacking, inexperienced 5/8 like Fainu, I think Benji may prefer a steady solid halfback in the mould of a Chad Townsend, which is pointing more and more towards a Jack Cogger (or as much as I hate to say it Adam Clune).

Agree with the last part.

We only have one spot on the roster free.
People say cool just let a player go but a club needs to want said player for it to happen.

If we signed Sexton this season using Joffa spot then that would fill us.

If the Fainu brothers coming is dependent on this season move then the release of TT would be to fit both in this season. It would also then allow us to front load the brothers as well given we would be well under the cap load I would imagine also for this year as well.

what does he do at training ? do they get him practicing to take bombs? training is where you should be learning and being coached by our expert staff…

he looks to me to be lacking in confidence and he will continue to be targeted at the NRL level…maybe playing against some numpties in the seconds for a while would be good for him to get his mojo back… not sure his current form should be keeping Staines out of the side if he is fit,,

Tupou is a keeper, he will develop in to a great winger he's just young. Honestly he's only in first grade because of our lack of depth he would prob have been 12 - 18 months away from regular first grade if we had a strong roster.
Just hope the coaches don't let the losses and floggings ruin him.
