Who do we need to bring in to change our culture?

We are the Wests Tigers. It's important some tradition is kept. What losing?? This club since amalgamation has listed from one bad decision to another the only thing done correctly so far was win a premiership 2005 and putting a pathways program in place, and finally constructing a centre of excellence.

Until the board who controls West Tigers remove there hand held puppets nothing will change greatly at our club. This he said she said and general indecision will cost the one thing we do not want to see happen again and that is losing our best Juniors who will leave to other nrl clubs and or ARU. And if you think i am talking out of my arse who are melbourne storm chasing x 2.

Tigers need A Josh Reynolds.

No- not THE Josh Reynolds.

But that type of guy. A CLUB guy. Brought through the ranks, who would do anything for the club.

John Skandalis. Liam Fulton. Chris Heighington. Robbie Farah.

Guys that bleed the colours. You build through that. It HAS to come from our juniors. I obviously don't know the young players. But anyone who is associated with them- you look for the guys the team rallies around. Guys who put their arm around the guy struggling. The guy urging or chastising the guys that need it.

That's how culture is built.

Would not hurt to have Skando in the FO somehow, in more of that junior CEO type role. Maybe learning off Fulton.

I agree.... But some call that "the boys club"

Skando is involved in some capacity

We don't need a change in culture.
Each year at around this time, this forum is discussing the same things over and over. Wests Tigers management shuffle a few deckchairs, sell the fans some encouraging spin, and settle back for business as usual. Justin might join the fans on the paddock to kick a few footies to demonstrate his involvement. The funny little guy in the trenchcoat and fedora might give an inspirational speech to show how much he loves the club. And on the paddock, it's mayhem.
Justin is still smiling. The funny little guy in trenchcoat and fedora is smiling. When we lose real bad, they might frown for the cameras but, the bottom line is looking real good. Who cares if we win, this underdog business plan is great. Everybody loves an underdog right? ...and they're obviously willing to pay for the privilege of supporting this pathetically managed team. 12 seasons of underperformance don't lie, and they fit the plan perfectly.
This is our culture.
Yes if us- the fans and members keep accepting this "underformance" every year, well nothing has to change

The underperformance of this club on the field tells us that there is something wrong, now it's can't be the coaches as we have changed so many of them over the past decade, ( and they can't all be bad coaches)

and I always wondered how it could be the "board" or someone behind the scenes, but maybe IT IS.....please the persons who are responsible for this debacle at WT's please stand up

That's exactly why I am glad the board brought in Fulton.

Sheens has basically hired an entire team around him who could be "pro Sheens". Most haven't had other external experience, only Dave Furner I think.

Ofcourse Fulton needs to bring in the goods. I can't believe that there arent other halfbacks that Manly knocked down in favour of DCE. I want to see some serious names come here.

I also want Fulton to tap Steve Matai to do some tackling training. Naturally none of this happens, we fire Fulton, all good. I am just glad the board recognised that the "Sheens show" puts the WT in a very bad place, with all answers coming from Sheens.
Put yourself in the same position. You are hired to get a job done. Do you hire a mix of dissedents and supporters or do you hire only supporters? There is no way you can get a job done with half your staff working against you.

There is nothing wrong with bringing Fulton into the club, but it was handled very poorly and without consultation. What did the board expect was going to happen? Frankly, it was a knee-jerk reaction to our recruitment problem where the board thought they could hire a guy for quick results and be congratulated for making tough decisions to benefit the club. Well guess what...we have nothing to show for it other than more media backlash.

I would have thought not achieving his goals, like improving the team by playing better football and winning more games.
I’m assuming you jest about the last sentence ?
I dunno - we were playing very competetive footy up until Brooks and Api were injured in the same game. We are basically putting out career reserve graders in key positions (9, 7 and 6) barring Bula who is a rookie.

With Api back this week, I'm confident we will have a better showing - I don't think we'll win, because we have nothing in the halves, but our defence will tighten up.

Nah, both clubs have given up a lot to have continued representation in the NRL, it's important that the name that was agreed upon is kept. We are the Wests Tigers. It's important some tradition is kept.
Agreed and to add to your point. If nothing else, the club has had the name for 23 years - there is a whole generation of kids who don't even remember Balmain and Wests, just Wests Tigers. Changing the name will just drive a stake in the heart of current Wests Tigers supporters, just like it did to the older generations on this forum when Balmain and Wests merged.

The name is not the problem with this club.

They've got to be equally capable footballers. No point in having a clubman who "is" the club when they're useless.

You build culture from the ground up. Put the right people in the pathways & reap the rewards down the road.

Sheens is, in all honesty, the guy to do that.

Culture comes from the top though.

If you're boss leaves at 6pm on the dot, you're going to do the same.

Every single board meeting needs to start with "What have you done since the last board meeting to help the Wests Tigers"

Culture is only a word what so called important people through around to confuse us so called dumb arses . I was at a a- grade club that was getting smacked ever year , we changed everything when we put a coach in place who can the finale word on who we signed and how much we paid them , we played in 4 of the next grand finals , when the coach left they went back to the committee chasing players and deciding what they got paid , it’s been 8 years now and they haven’t made the semifinals once , I know it a different set up but if it works down the river it can work up the river

But hang on - you called them the "sydney tigers", so you obviously do care - if you want to get rid of the old divisison surely both magpies and tigers are dropped from the name
Mate, I’m trying to match the dots and keep the emblem ( Balmain and Wests but more) but the Tiger emblem is still useful and would be an upgrade on the Wests Tigers name. I’m for getting rid of the regional aspect, of all teams and focusing on the emblem. So Sydney Tigers would be replacing Wests Tigers NOT Balmain or Western Suburbs coz they were already ready laced by Wests Tigers.
Manly Sea Eagles indicated a regional alliance but Sydney Eagles covers the whole bloody city !
Same with Sydney Dragons etc etc etc ,
Are you seeing my point, at all.

No i don't see your point - the only advantage i see is if you follow Sydney you have 9 chances at winning
