Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

btw how is feledy not in first grade ?????

He needs time in NSW Cup first. The other NSW centre, Ethan Strange was a standout last night but he's done little in the 6-7 games he's played in NSW Cup this year.

I'd like to see Feledy and Faagutu promoted to NSW Cup for the rest of the season. Faagutu could even be given a game in firsts - I reckon he could handle it.

If you read between the lines, the Braydon Trindall boat has sailed and Wests Tigers now ideally want Jonah Pezet, Ethan Sanders or potentially Lachlan Ilias as the starting number 7 for 2024.
Any of the 3 would be fantastic, just not sure if we are a realistic chance on any of them.
That’s why I believe we need to sign an older more experienced and much cheaper halfback to apply pressure to any potential young halfback we may sign.
As for a 6, I don’t think we should bother even contemplating big money for a young player such as Fainu as we have some highly promising young 6’s of our own and just need a stop gap 6 until they are ready.
I think Taafe would be great playing 6 for us, but it seems he’s going to the Bulldogs ss their starting fullback.
Metcalfe would be great, but it seems he’s now established himself as the number one 6 at the Warriors.
Croft might be ok, but I just feel we ideally need someone a bit bigger in stature and better defensively as our 6.
Junior Amone maybe an option ?
Anyone think Paul Alamoti would be a good recruit ?

We simply can't go into next year with half that has no kicking game. Ilias straightens the attack as good as anyone, he defends well, but he has a terrible long and short kicking game. He would really struggle with us.

100%

He is the personification of ego overriding ability & application!

Style over substance!

Plus he is an abject moron try-hard!!

* On that note - why all of a sudden have "Romey" "Bizza" and "Critta" decided to wear HEADGEAR as if it was a fashion statement!

If you need to wear a helmet to protect a cut/split that is fine!

But otherwise when you have always played without it.....

To'o only played well for NSW tonight when he finally ditched it after Tabuai-Fidow made him look stupid again!
Critta has been wearing it since he lost half his ear in the head clash. Maybe they all like their faces too much and don’t want the same thing to happen to them.

I think he doesn’t kick well because south’s have others to do it and they play a different game , if we grabbed him I am sure he could learn to become a better kicker

Here's a rumour from Bunnies, pretty good info too. Cody at 7, Wighton 6, Furguson and Graham 3 and 4. Taafe and Illias up for sale.

I can see this happening but it's interesting because they are two running halves. I think 80% of the fans on this forum feel you need an organizing 7. Wighton and Walker are definitely not that type of player.

I think Volkman is most likely to drop out given he hasn’t got much of a go in the NRL. TMM could be released as well.

There is no way they’ll go into 2024 with all of those players in the halves.
TMM and Volkman won’t play 1st grade pending injuries. Depends on their lifestyle outside of Footy as to whether they are happy to stay in NZ and remain part of the squad or whether they want to challenge themselves elsewhere. Harris Tavita returns to play a hooker utility role I feel.

So in summary from rumours in recent days, we are in talks with:

- Fainu brothers
- Ethan Sanders (only that it would be remiss of us not to be in talks)
- Aidan Sezer
- Brodie Croft
- Brayden Trindall (although Sharks have denied a release)
- Jeral Skelton (apparently signed)

Anyone else?

We've been mud for years and we signed Aip, IP, Bateman and Klemmer. Money talks.
Id argue our position since signing Api and IPap is far more suspect than when they signed.
We couldn't replace the coach we sacked and have shown no improvement results wise under the coach/s we ended up with. Money talks but it's not going to buy us the players we need when competing with other clubs.

Didn't the Wighton deal get approved by the NRL because Souths valued him as a centre. Be a bit smelly if straight away he was thrust into the halves. Ricky would blow up!
Really it’s south’s and they get a big pass because there a culture club , nothing will be said , if we did it , fines cap reduced

I'm sick of this trend that seems to have crept into the game where the players bow to what their manager wants. Bring back the old days when players told their managers what to do and took control of their own life.
Personally believe the managers are a cancer to the game, if I owned the Tigers I'd make it clear to the players or any prospective players I deal with them alone, were all adults. If you need a manager to discuss things for you then imo you don't have nowhere near enough starch to put our jersey on.

Illias managed by Anasta no way he sends a young half to the tigers. Would love Jonah pezet but same issue

Depends on what Illias would prefer when you consider his options. If Souths don't want him and we do, he has 2 choices:
1. Come to us and play NRL
2. Go to another club and play KOE cup.

No other NRL team is picking Illias up to be there halfback.

Hopefully we aren't entertaining the idea either.
