Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

How I see it playing out

1) Sheens gone as head coach > offered old role but sooks and walks

2) Benji head coach in 2024
- clipped wings in regards to recruitment
- Assistant capable of taking over employed

The fact that Fulton employed is admission that the Sheens 2nd coming has failed. 5 year plan dead after 6 months.

I then see benji being punted at the end of 2024.

If the board wants to protect themselves, they'll have to punt Pascoe to save face.

Interesting time ahead.

I think something along those lines is very plausible, Sheens has been sooking since MCDonell left.
You reckon they are lining up Holbrook to step in?
Pascoe has to go if even half of that comes into fruition, he should have been dumped after the Farah stuff imo.

If that all happens, this club will either fold or be told to relocate.

How?
He is not working with the footy department.
Just running out and signing any good player who will talk to you is not what the procurement process for recruitment is all about.
The coach will end up with a hodgepodge of players filling out a squad that cannot be blended into a team.
He's sandbagging a pool of good players. Better than we have

One positive I see in all this. Player managers won’t be able to use WT as pawns any more.

Player manager: “WT are offering 600k per season”

Competing club: “bahahaha we all know he’s not going to go to that circus”

Player manager: “yeah you’re right, sorry”

Listened to a grab of a show with Joel Caine on it from yesterday he talked about the Benji and Sheens stuff. One thing stood out from what he said which was why didn’t we appoint Sheens as head coach and employ Benji as his assistant no promises just learn and take it from there. If he’s good enough he can coach if he isn’t someone else steps in no issues. It’s really common sense stuff, imo if that was discussed Benji would have knocked it back because of his media gig.
Look at all the other assistants doing their time, Ryles,Hornby,Young what makes Benji the messiah that he just walks in no experience and everyone just falls in-line, I think the concerns from the player managers with youngsters on their books have valid concerns when you look at it like that.
Benji could be a good coach in time but he doesn’t have any runs on the board to be throwing his weight around. The club thought he would be a player magnet maybe it’s having the opposite affect.
Whilst I agree with all of this and railed furiously against the appointment of Sheens for 2 years whilst back dooring Benji in for a further 3 years…we cannot let the club exist purely at the mercy of player managers.
If Fulton thinks he can wield power through threatening us, we should all be against that and on the side of the current coaches.

All recruitment should happen in the off season and up until June
Just gives player managers the feeling of being relevant right up to finals when in reality every fan would be much better off without all the drama
Leaking to the media in the offseason has less effect as most fans are switched off or less invested
I really don’t like player managers control on the game.

I heard this two weeks ago when I said people in the game said they didn’t like our vision

I texted Lee and emailed Justin and said “vision vision vision”

And look at the media today … it’s all about our vision

Also I was at a family function today and my cousin used to coach bulldogs reserve grade recently and said he’d heard benji might not last and NO ONE on the game respects OLD BOYS getting a leg up to coach.

No one!
State of origin would been to differ. It's exclusively an old boys club, at the highest level of the game. No one had an issue with it

I do agree, I think they all already control clubs to differing degrees. We’re just easy pickings for them because of our lack of success and poor management.
I was actually initially on the other end of the spectrum I thought it was fantastic I bought into the Wests Tigers DNA garbage.
It clearly isn’t working and probably won’t work, before we know we’ll be staring down the barrel of another 5 yr plan with all our good juniors coming through picked off at will.
