Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

No he wasn't Brooks was - Hastings even said as much after the Souths win...
Brooks was the best player against Parra.

It's bleetingly obvious no matter how well Brooks plays
- There's those of you that just wont accept it.

Mate … I’m not going to argue with you… it’s over a year ago… so I’ll take your word for it…

I still maintain Hastings was amongst the best players in the team prior to his injury… and like I said they were putrid without him after he got injured

We do need plenty … but I’ll never be convinced that moving on Hastings this season when he was relatively cheap and would have been motivated to play well to get his next contract was the right idea…

The lack of depth in the halves has been glaringly exposed this season

You will never convince me moving on Hastings was the right decision this season as well.

The Bateman/Hastings drama is actually quite a big deal. For reasons I don’t know they really seem to not like each other and the idea of them being on the same team wouldn’t have worked.

Heard this from a relative to Hastings - the relative also did mention that Jackson wanted to stay badly and never wanted the Knights move.

You .are Hastings sound like Andrew John's. Fair dinkum.

We might be 3rd last with Hastings here. Whoopee do.

With the coaching tactics put forward my Marshall and Sheens wouldn't matter who was halfback. Boring predictable football.

If the attack doesn't change next year then there is seriously something wrong with the coaches at this club.…

I’ll take third last as preferable to going backwards with a better team

Totally agree 💯
1yr perfect but 2yrs max
Teddy working daily to fine tune our 21yr old rookie fullback would be invaluable for Bula's development. Great for all our junior backs coming through.. let's develop these kids to be 10yr Tiger First graders.. be patient and develop them properly.. imagine Bula with all his natural gifts having Tedesco's brain.. what a weapon we'd have..

He would probably get in his ear and send him to Nick Politis.

Brooks over Hastings is just dumb. Brooks being paid over a million and has been on the sideline more than he plays last couple of seasons.

Sheens and benji wanted to keep him too.
shows there is not clear thinking there.

The couple of times we had Hastings and Brooks together in the halves we looked great and in hindsight that should have been our halves combination this season with Doueihi starting in the centres or lock.
We would have been well off the bottom of the ladder had that been the plan.
Anyway we can’t change it, so no point dwelling on it.
Lets look forward and hope an injection of exciting young talent along with a couple of experienced signings can give all us Wests Tigers something to look forward to.

True and guess what…the same people will be talking about him all year next year in this discussion. Got to learn to get over a past flame.

I don't think its even in Teddy's thoughts to come back here, and if its true they want Manu at 1 i can see them giving him a shot at 6. Tbh i think its doing Bula a disservice to suggest an aging Teddy should take his spot, the kid is different gravy, anyone can see that. He will make mistakes and have his ups and downs but im projecting he's going to have a huge career shoud he stay relatively injury free. I just hope that is with us and not someone like the Rorters.

It’s just some speculation off the back of a two line story in the paper…

I dont think Bula needs to feel slighted…Its what fans of a team that has won 7 of their last 40 games do… other teams fans have their victories and finals plans to discuss on tneir forums,,

While I agree that good players can make coaches look good, there’s probably a variety of reasons for our players’ hesitation and looking lost.
One possibility is micro managing, complex plays, or positional instability, players getting rearranged because coaches are looking for combinations?
Early in the season we saw some on field manoeuvres, like the run around, the show n go, the scrum play etc. we don’t see them now?
The good teams have a strong reliance on structure and shape, which never seems to become unfashionable.
Anyhow, I think when you have a novice coach, he’s gonna want to try a few things, that’s to be expected.
Sheens is a very good coach. He will see someone reinventing the wheel and enjoy walking with them through their learning experience. But he’s coaching the coach as I see it.
Yep the old KISS principle. The player who typifies this is Aaron Woods, played his best under Sheens when things were kept simple and he was a battering ram. Complicate his playing and suddenly he turns into a plodder.

I think structure and shape does become unfashionable. The difference is Melbourne get it and play a modern structure and adapt their game to suit the rules. ... Wests Tigers don't do structure.

Defense we need a strong structure. We need players who can trust each other and that only comes from structure and knowing that weaker players have a little less distance to cover. Our wing/Centre combos are leaking tries, yet that overlap needs to be managed. Some say Halfbacks manage that, others say fullbacks as the fullback can see the gap. Either way we don't manage that.

Attack however I get structured attacks like Easts and Melbourne. I also get Unstructured attacks like Manly. Both can work and I think our lack of structured approach had won us games vs melbourne in the past (decades ago).
