I'm no fan of the current board and I think new blood is needed, but he gets a lot of undue criticism for the on-field stuff.

Tim Sheens is responsible and he was removed. Benji is responsible, and if he fails (more likely than not) he will hopefully also be removed.

They also don't get credit for a lot of things (The CoE, Sullivan, Fainu, Api extension, off field stuff).

He's on a hiding to nothing really.

Should have chucked Madge out in 21, didn't. Turfed him in 22 with no plan after humiliating him and everyone else at the club with a tv show. Nearly break Noddy and collect a spoon so Sheens can ride in as saviour this year. Appoint a coach with no experience to start in 3 years time. Ditch Sheens when he is a failure (as predicted) bring forward the Ill advised appointment of the coach with zero experience.... Gee it's going to be really hard to predict the outcome of this. Oh wait, no it's not.....rookie coach gone within 2 seasons.

Meanwhile we will be told by the few remaining members of Pascoe's tea and scones crew that everything is under control.

If Pascoe/the board appoint a monkey as head coach and that monkey doesn't get results, does Pascoe still get a pass?

With the rotating door of coaches we have had and change of club direction/focus over the last few years, at some point the leadership must take responsibility for appointing the wrong people.

I read this line and just had to respond. You are 100% wrong. They've had multiple long term plans. The problem is the long term plans don't work and hence they make changes.

There is no problem in creating a long term plan. The problem is in getting a long term plan right but I don't think long term plans work very good anyway.

When do you know the least amount of information about some project you are about to embark on. It's at the start. Long term plans generally suck because you are trying to do something that you can't do well.

I'll tell you how it works:-

1. Create a long term plan and fool a bunch of morons into feeling good. Pat each other on the back.
2. Start doing the work and realize that the long term plan is a piece of crap.
3. Repeat step 1.

I reckon it's simple. Get good people and let them go to work. Hopefully Benji is a better coach than Sheens is right now.

The leadership of our club will NEVER take responsibility for their mistakes because they don't have to,there is always a scapegoat or 2 they can blame for their lack of judgement.Most of them have to answer to nobody but Wests Ashfield and they are untouchable

He (Pascoe) meddles with the “on field stuff” though…

And bringing in Fulton without consultation with Sheens and Marshall is inexcusable
 
The coaching plan with Sheens/Benji was so poor it was negligent. Sheens has had no success for so long. Pascoe admitted that when they gave Benji the 5 year contract they didn’t even know if he could coach (WTF). Benji needs to go back and start as an assistant for Harold Matthew’s and work his way up. Pascoe needs to go and Lee as well.

Imo (as an outsider only) I’d be looking to bring in Morris or Hannay. Hannay gets lots of wraps for what he does with the QLD origin team. Morris brought through a great crop of juniors at the sharks. Both have been coaching for a decade under various head coaches where they have been able to pick and choose what they like to create their own styles.

The other issue for the club, given how quickly we go through coaches, is any new coach will want a long and guaranteed contract without the standard one year payout clause. I don’t blame them. But it’s a big financial commitment for the club.
 
trully shows how spinless LH JP n board are,get Sheens in 2 shaft Madge after stalling on terminating him for a year n a 1/2. Scream to the heavens the club needs to show stability in its ranks,hand it onto Sheens/Benjie show.Basically shaft them both by sneeking Fulton in 6mths later.Fulton is a ticking time bomb in more ways than 1

If Madge was the lead actor then it’s fair to say Pascoe had a prominent supporting role.
I just wish those in admin would grow up, and stop sacking people they disagree with. That also goes for those who support this immature management style.

We are going to really struggle to find a decent coach if Benji doesn't work out. On the upside though, Benji being punted after a year or two might be the thing that finally gets pasco booted.

Agree can't see Benji doing anything better than Sheens. Like I said in another post Tucker. Benji being punted might finally be the thing that gets Pasco booted aswell.

I cant even think about the next coach at this stage….

Benji will have a long leash … wouldn’t be surprised if he lasts 3 years …if he shows steady improvement like 15th next year and 12th the following that will be all that it takes for him to get a third year…

Not saying that improvement is a given but don’t think it’s out of the question either
