Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Not saying we should take him but certainly nothing like BJ
I think the role of centre has changed over the years.

With the rise of the spine, they are less attacking weapons than before. I see them basically as very mobile backrowers. Yes they need to know how to put their wingers away but I believe their real value is defending the edge and taking hit ups to start sets of six as part of the “back 5”.

Unless Olam’s game has dramatically deteriorated, he would be a good fit in the aforementioned scenario.

Their role has changed for the worse, and the shittest clubs - such as us have embraced it the most.
There are however good sides who still have attacking weapons playing there.

Been at least 4 months I think since I last logged onto the forum. I decided to take a step back and I may decide to do that again. I’m not sure how long I’ll stick around if I do decide to step back again but I have watched all the games since I last logged on except the Cowboys in Townsville that was a rough one. But some things have changed since I was last on so here are my thoughts.

First off we managed to sign the Fainu brothers. I haven’t seen to much of Samuela but Latu this kid can play. I think we may have snagged a good one here. Obviously hasn’t played first grade yet but the talent is there. I think he’ll be a good acquisition for us going forward. Also signed Sullivan which I don’t mind I think he’s got talent but injury prone by the sound of it. If he can stay fit and not injured we may have another good one with us. Aidan Sezer I think is a good signing as well he can help mentor both Latu and Sullivan going forward and we do need experience in the halves for 24.

Sheens not being coach for next year honestly I’m glad is not happening. I know there’s talk that he stood down himself and maybe he did. But you can see his best days are behind him. I know Benji was seen as being the main coach despite Sheens being listed as head coach, but Sheens only getting 3 wins as coach for someone that’s experienced as him is pretty pathetic. I gave him a chance but his record in England was poor and even his record in the NRL the first time around wasn’t that great either. If Benji can get some good assistants we may do better in 24. John Morris was a good choice plus we now have an insurance policy should Benji fail. If he does Morris I believe is the next head coach of the club now hopefully we can get another good one.

Now the big one… Luke Brooks. If you go and check my old posts about him you’ll see that I’m not a fan of his as are a lot of people on here. Some were upset that he’s leaving but for me I’m glad he is going. Both the club and Brooks it was time to part ways. We had to go in a different direction. Some felt he was low balled honestly I think he wasn’t. 550K is good money for someone that’s achieved nothing in their career. If he did take it I could’ve lived with it but I’m glad he’s going. I do wish him luck at Manly, but we didn’t lowball him we just offered the right money for someone that’s playing around that kind of money. The deadline for me wasn’t a bad thing either all clubs do it. You can’t wait around forever to wait on a player deciding what to do next.

Sorry for the long post but yeah wanted to share my opinion on what’s happened since my last visit.
Thanks for that. We are now all the wiser.

Why did they let go of sezer and Williams again

Plus the guy killing it in UK now?
Probably because of Ricky Stuart. He is notorious for being an insanely harsh critic of his halfbacks. Some players can't hack it and leave.

Fogarty may only have one contract left in him. He started his career late (debuted at 26 or so), so he needs to secure the bag while he can. Who knows when your career could be over and you can't play anymore.

I don’t think he’ll leave
With wighton gone they will need to pay more to keep him
