Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Agreed. I don't think the issue is Galvin it is Moses. The rumours started after we signed two young halves who may become difficult to displace if they play well here. Then the longer the school boy season went the more Galvin's reputation increased, meaning he would be gaining the interest of more and more clubs. Moses would be looking to cash in on this interest with either an upgrade here or a higher offer elsewhere.
Yeah I reckon given Galvin's form in recent weeks as Australia's #1 schoolboy, he is probably being enquired about by numerous clubs including Manly (Warren McDonnell). McDonnell would know what contract he's on at WTs so could have said to Moses that Manly will offer more.

Heard from a pommy friend who is involved a little bit with Wigan that we are looking again at getting Morgan Smithies
We were interested last off-season too. He's a lightweight lock/backrower who is a tackling machine, aggressive & full of effort. I'd be interested if he can play hooker as well as a potential utility like a Bayley Sironen.

Twal has been on onver 500k for a few years now, going up to 550k next season. Sure he tackles well, but he's otherwise pretty slow, doesn't make a lot of pcm, and isn't overly skillful. For teh price he should be delivering more.
If we could keep one of Twal for 550k or Seyfarth for 200k i'd keep Seyfarth. Or negotiate Twal to a deal covering more years on less yearly salary.
Who the hell thought Joffa was worth 600k and Twal 550k?!! Who made these decisions and when are they getting sacked (if they haven't already)?
This off-season may have a kind of Penrith 2019 into 2020 look about it when out went James Maloney, James Tamou, Reagan Campbell-Gillard, Waqa Blake & Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and sure enough they jumped from 10th to grand finalists.

Apparently the owners have called for a full independent review, Pascoe might not survive that

That could easily depend if the owners believe they need another high profile sacrifice to take the well directed blowtorch off themselves.Judging by previous decisions they have made i am not confident of what they come up with.I am not trying to defend Pascoe but he is not the only problem we have, the main problem we have is our board imho

Eddie Blacker & Kurt Falls not going to be re-signed by the Panthers according to a club insider on Twitter. Both could be T&T or NSW Cup options for us to provide depth. Falls can play half, 5/8 & hooker, so could be worth a look at as a depth signing in these positions especially if we move on Jake Simpkin. PS. I said T&T and Cup potential only, not wasting a top 30 on them.

You would believe there would be some kind of code of ethics in place similar to govt depts and business. But really WTs should be able to more than cover any offer Manly could make (in theory because he is under contract).

i spoke about twal being a casualty a while back

the club are happy for him to stay, but his management have approached the club for an extension, which we will not entertain at this time

which i think is completely fair, he is a good player who has hit his developmental ceiling

weakes wants guarenteed first team football, which the tigers and dogs wouldnt agree too

not much else happening
but i would expect 3 or 4 more releases in the next two months

Any news on savage? Surely if weekes goes there we could nab savage. Would be a good replacement for Laurie/stains if he leaves

Twal being told to leave is pretty disappointing. he got to a point by the end of the year where he was our best middle forward and had finally developed an offload and some footwork. now another club will benefit from our time and development we've put into him. he will be picked up by a big club and will excel, of that I have no doubt.

the flipside of the argument is concern over his salary, as well as the fact that Blore has become a middle, Pole is rumoured to be going back to the bench as an impact type, Samuela Fainu should take jersey 17 and one of Matamua and Laulili'i will likely take the 13 jersey, pending any movement in the player market.

with potentially Seyfarth and Twal gone we need to sign a proven middle. let's hope those Xavier Willison rumours come to fruition.
He hasn't been told to leave - he has a contract until the end of next year and its pretty obvious he will not be offered an extension. The club has given him the opportunity to suss out whether a long term deal can be picked up elsewhere and they won't stand in his way if he wishes to leave early.

Blacker goes ok as well

The Wests Tigers could finally be ending the “Pascoe fiasco” with a review launched into the club’s operations after a second straight wooden spoon.
Fans have been up in arms about chief executive Justin Pascoe remaining in charge for nearly a decade despite a series of coaches being shown the door as the Tigers endure a finals drought which stretches back to 2011.

Club chairman Lee Hagipantelis has also come under heavy fire for the way the club has been run under his watch.
Former NRL chief financial officer Tony Crawford will head uyp a review for Benchmarking Matters, according to a NewsCorp report, which will examine how the joint venture club has failed to become finals contenders for more than a decade.
The Tigers sounded out Newcastle’s Peter Parr to take over as football manager but he is staying at the revitalised Knights.

Disgruntled fans have held up banners at games and organised online petitions to have Pascoe removed.
A group of around 40 Tigers fans chanted for Pascoe’s exit on the seven-minute mark of their final match against Manly, handing out flyers labelled “end the Pascoe fiasco”.
Multiple banners calling for the CEO’s exit were also hoisted on the Brookvale hill, before security forced them to be taken down at halftime claiming the venue had deemed them “offensive”.
Tim Sheens was dumped as coach with more than a year remaining on his contract with Benji Marshall taking over ahead of schedule.

Teams that need to bolster their pack would include - Rabbit, Dogs, Dragons, Storm.
I don't think the Rabbits would have the cash, and who would want to play for the Drags?
Could see both the Dogs and Storm as being a good landing spot for him if he goes (I hope he doesn't).
If Weakes isn't cracking the top 17 at the Dogs or the Tigers I can't see it happening anywhere else...

Never have a review unless your already know the outcome. Or have a review to justify a decision that has already been made.
