10 Great things about Electric Cars.

You'll need to type slower for him.

How pretentious are you. What data and evidence are you relying on in your environmental crusade with Greta.

I'm all for a cleaner environment but all these weather fortune tellers are BS. Has anything Al Gore said come true?

I'm sure a lot of people are sick of the way it's being managed too getting your paper straw in big plastic cup.

Time and time again these people have shown examples of getting it wrong.

Would suggest people be very careful what comes on the internet from "scientist" "businesses men" and government.

'they got it wrong'

Are we talking about electric cars or climate change?
Electric cars are overpriced but there's no doubt we're all gonna die.
Well maybe not us but it's pointless for my grandson to have kids unless he can breed an underground living mole man to survive the heat.
The little bits of tinkering humans are doing now won't make any difference

The most basic data points is rising average global temperatures and melting ice glaciers year on year across the last 40 years and the correlation between carbon and and temperature is predictable and consistent with prehistoric climates.

Any climate change model forecasting specific results will always be wrong as there is simply to much conflicting data points to accurately enter into a simulation.
However every single broad trend predicted has been 100% accurate.

I'm all for questioning Government but what benefit is there for Governments, worldwide, to create a climate change myth? Especially when many of the western world's Governments are backed by oil and/or mining corporations. How would you even get all the Governments across the world to buy into the scam?

I guess you are right about questioning what is presented as science on the internet but anyone of basic intelligence with any sort of schooling in the last 15 years should have enough science literacy to assess what is a legitimate scientific report.
Beyond questioning the validity of any one scientific paper, and possibly where their funding has come from, questioning scientist is a fools errand. Especially when your questioning a result with about 99% consensus within the scientific community
If you don't give a shit about human accelerated climate change that is one thing, but to deny its existence altogether is another.

Tend to agree, we've stuffed the environment beyond repair and largely don't look to be showing any interest in reducing our impact despite all the little bits of tinkering.

I don't know anywhere near enough about cars, electric or otherwise to discuss the pros and cons.

I do however know that invention and technology moves forward building upon what already exists. So arguments against the environmental positives of electric cars based upon things like batteries becoming landfill or the electricity powering them being produced through carbon emitting sources should be void as it is likely the energy and batteries of the future are more likely carbon neutral and eco friendly. We however will not get there without this current intermediate step.

Wow the world only beem circling 2000 years.
The earth's climate changes over thousands and millions of years. It does not change by degrees in mere decades (short of cataclysms like a super volcano or large-scale asteroid impact).

We are turbo charging the planet's energy imbalance by transferring millions of years worth of inert accumulated carbon and methane in the earth into the atmosphere, where it acts as a greenhouse gas, at a furious pace.

The loss of albedo that results from this through melting ice then accelerates the process even further, so we are now stuck in a spiral that has locked in further rapid warming over the decades to come. It is going to be nigh on impossible to escape this clusterfuck.

A very good balanced post

I suppose the real problem is how the earth has gone from 1 billion 100 years ago to 7 billion.

All from developing countries, while we in the west struggle with falling populations.

I guess governments may have a motivation to promote new industries and also to prepare us middle class to dispense with increasing amounts of living standards in order to support people who have not yet been born in developing countries because they wish to have large families. They are now budgeting on 10 billion soon. Whether climate change is a perpetual trend or not is immaterial with these numbers......something has to give.

You mentioned funding , I read somewhere that many professors in prestigious U.S universities complain that if they put out a paper questioning climate change they are not funded and often castigated.

In short we may be burning more fossil fuels but exponentially less to support earths growing population.

EVs are lame as....id much rather hear my straight through muffler sing at 9krpm in my Honda Civic...whenever an EV pulls up at my work it's just sad, whilst they are efficient they are just so soulless.

Hey mate don't question the God like scientists.

My issue is the infrastructure isn’t there. Nothing more comforting then when I’m running low on fuel I can pull over and fill up. If Tito treats himself to a Bubble o Bill and some salt and vinegar smiths crisps then the wife’s none the wiser.

Can someone start a pro vs against list for electric cars for the forum. Much the same as the Sezer one.

I’m happy to go in the against camp.
