Jarome Luai

if he's getting 1.2 million for 5 years at another club (Wenty Magpies or Coogee Wombats) he'd be silly not to take it
Yeah agree.
If he wasn't injured late last year I'd probably think otherwise, but I reckon this shoulder injury has shown him this could well be his last deal so better, make it a good one

I'd like to see this quote where he's allegedly said he's torn between (a) winning & staying or (b) having more time with family & leaving

A couple of things with the Luai signing or as it would appear , non signing.
Iam never upset when a player shows loyalty to his club even when his manager has used us to up his contract. It’s what we would expect from one of our players in the same situation.

Also with Luai we are talking 2025, anything can happen to him between now and then and our young halves will be a year older. He was never going to impact on us next season, and with the NRL it’s very hard to ever look to far ahead.

As I said previously, I would take him in a flash, but I would easily move on if we miss out

Penrith offering an extension, might be enough to get Luai to stay.

However, sounds like he needs to be mindful that it could be his last contract at Penrith with Jett Cleary coming through. Who knows what his monetary value will be worth after that.

So if it's longer term financial security he wants or the chance to win another premiership ring he has some thinking to do.

I think with his dislocated shoulder it is risky. 850K for 3 years isn't much better than 850K for 2 years. 1.2 million for 4 years plus would be tempting and also being the main man. I'm not sure he would enjoy being the scapegoat for penrith every time they lose. He's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. He doesn't get the opportunity to prove doubters wrong by staying at penrith no matter how many premierships he wins. I'm also not sure why he'd want to stay with the amount of penrith fans who have jumped off the ship and said he's average and easily replaceable. Then the comments from CEO and coach. He's making the wrong decision by staying at penrith, but it's his decision, not mine

I remember vaguely as well GNR. shame.
Hired gun mate, going for cheap. That's
media for you these days. It wasn't just a
hunch that he was in cahoots with Gus
2 I heard it from other people in the know.
NRL media eh, not many men of honour,
No more reporting or analysis. Tabloid
stuff these days. Anyway, it is what it is
Well people keep posting their shit to the forum, so I don't know why anyone is surprised that gutter journalism manages to keep its place.

I'm trying to stay positive on Luai because I think we need him but I'm starting to get that vibe similar to Mitchell and Moses. I can see us missing out on Luai and AFB and signing Olam without any Storm contribution and calling it a signing coup.

It has the orchestrated rort vibe.
They give him Cleary money but through a cleverly choreographed release of stories they convince everyone he's accepting Eisenhuth money.
Watch the real estate market once he re-signs. Just like when Latrell signed with Souths for $2 and a packet of chips but was seen buying 3 houses and a hotel soon after.

And when I say Cleary money I mean what Cleary really gets, not the other previously cleverly orchestrated rort that convinced the infirm of mind that the best player in the comp. accepted Brooks money.

I have a feeling that if Penrith goes back at 3 years and $1m the Tigers will go hard at 4 years for $5m+
I just have a feeling we have a little still in reserve
The Penrith club is loaded with money from their huge real estate investments plus a lot, lot more. If they make a huge offer to Luiai I would like the NRL to do their job and find out where that money is coming from. Scams are everywhere in the NRL and the NRL does nothing to stop these supposedly very illegal actions.

Right now (December 5) we are almost certainly in that '10 day period' after a player has accepted an offer. Ruling out Dogs, this makes me confident Jarome has signed and accepted our offer as December 8 (due back to training) was the day he planned to have his decision finalised. Penrith's recent offer of an extra year is just optics for the fans. I have a feeling we've already offered the 1.2 million Jarome asked for

I tend to think panthers are pretending to wanna keep him but don’t really mind. I think they feel they can replace him for less dollars. They’ve locked down their core already and showed they could beat the second best team in the gf with a fringy at 6. The funny thing is this makes me feel no more confident we won’t trip ourselves up. If we get him it will be all Benji swimming against the tide

Tigers need to put a 24th December deadline on this. Take it or leave it
Why? Just because you don’t know what’s going on and seem to be panicking (tbf you aren’t alone) doesn’t mean the situation isn’t under control. This has deadset turned into the Cuban Missile Crisis. And there is no basis for it. One person panicked and the rest followed like sheep. Half of you probably don’t even know why, just panicking cos they see that others are. Seriously people, chill. Quit stealing my gimmick
