Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I get the impression we might cool our interest in Luai, based on what Richo's said and done in the past.

Especially given his view on blocking pathways with our up and coming 6s.
It goes both ways. Based on this article Richardson has been interested in Luai in the past (back in 2018/19) when Luai had offers from Souths and Parra to leave. But the comments around juniors is impressive and good to see. I think we are in a good spot with or without Luai

I never really understood why we were chasing him , when we signed Fainu and Sullivan and Galvin is in the top 30 . Like do we rate these kids or don’t we ? “We love these kids , but we need a 1 mil dollar 27 year old as well “ huh ….
The AFB signing is a good one … but luai I dunno …
I hope Shane Richardson puts out a statement saying he’s put a stop on our 1 million dollar plus bid on Luai as he wants Benji and the coaching staff to give Latu Fainu and Lachlan Galvin every opportunity to play regular NRL from a young age PROVIDING their effort and form deserves it. Keeping in mind they are both very young and needing all Wests Tigers fans to understand they are both a work in progress, so we cannot expect superstar performances each week from them at NRL level straight away while they are just starting out as NRL players.

You obviously don’t rate luai. He’s worth a mil easy in this halves market and the new salary cap. I’m sick of waiting for a work in progress.

OMG that would be terrible to do.

Last thing Fainu and Galvin need is that level of pressure put onto them when we know they are years away from being NRL standard.

Agree. Luai wouldn't be at the club until 2025 anyway so treat 2024 as a training run for the next generation. Aiden Sezar is experienced and can guide the boys and Sullivan has some experience in FG so no need to rush into a multi-million dollar deal when you might need the dough to keep Galvin & co on board later. Benji was 17 I think when he got an end-of-season run in 2003. The rest is his story!

Luai is a proven half who was won 3 comps. Fainu & Galvin as good as they can be have never played NRL before… would you really pick them over Luai?

Great let's just keep losing

That is the feeling I'm getting as well.
Problem is we really need to start winning and players like him and AFB make a massive difference. Gives time for these younger ones to develop and prove themselves.
Given Api and Ice couldn’t help save us from the spoon I’m not sure 1 big money signing is going to pull us out of this mess.

We do need quality but we also can’t screw our cap again paying overs.

Look at the top 4-6 sides mate. Count the big names. Seems pretty obvious that’s your winning formula.

but it’s not that simple. Api and ice played without halves and most of a backline either.
A million dollars on elite , and (IMO) thats what luai is, is not screwing the cap.

It’s not about rating him or not , I just don’t get the whole investing in Fainu Hyperbole last season , for a distinct right turn to luai . … not to mention Sullivan as well , and obviously. Galvin .

It’s a great problem to have. The top squads have multiple talents coming through at once. It creates competition.

Hopefully gone are the days where certain players can just rock up thinking they are starting each week regardless.
