Deadset how do they keep buying top line players on OVERS..
Surely the NRL needs to look at this and the way they just offload players ever year.
Why would a player want to go there when every year they offload and buy new ones.

Of course they market the club as a development club and main focus on there juniors which is laughable considering all they do is buy external

nothing changes in regards to Luai.

Pascoe had some involvement but it’s nothing Richo can’t sort out with a phone call with Luai and his manager to smooth it over. the bloke wants a paycheck and the chance to play halfback. yesterday’s events do not affect that in the slightest.

in regards to AFB, there’s some interesting comments made by Richo in his interview with James Graham about how there’s no need to sign middle forwards on upwards of $800k when you can sign someone who will do a similar job for less and have some cash left over for depth. don’t be surprised if our offer is rescinded in the next week or two.

I think for Luai we need to break the bank whatever it takes.
For AFB he is good but he is not Payne Haas, I wouldn't go past 850k for him, so I hope we don't match Dragons offer and pay overs

What I don’t believe hasn’t been mentioned is Lee said on SEN this morning that Pascoe had recently secured $41m of government funding for a new WT Centre of Excellence next to Campbelltown Stadium. A nice parting gift from Pascoe.

Although, why the government continues to give our tax payer money away to elite sporting organisations is beyond me.

I don't think we should break the bank for Luai at all. $1.2m for four years + an option for the fifth is as high as I'd go, and even then I'd prefer we didn't have the option in there. unsurprisingly the Dogs have come to the table late and will rattle the cage.

as for AFB I agree. Klemmer and potentially a Terrell May or Jesse Colqhoun will do us just fine. I would also anticipate Fa'agutu starts pressing for first grade selection next year and beyond. upwards of $1m for a front rower is just far too much, even with the salary cap going up.

I will say that what's different this time around about us chasing Luai is that if we don't end up getting him we have 3 long term halves signed (albeit unexperienced.) Last year we were heavily relying on Moses to come because they only half we had signed up for next season was Doueihi so it's not the end of the world if he doesn't end up coming.

Andrew Voss just made the point that any player who was considering signing with us will probably look elsewhere due to the upheaval and instability. There's just too much uncertainty for any manger to point his players our way.
It's hard to argue he's wrong.
I feel sorry for Benji. The events of yesterday probably mean the squad he has now is the squad he'll have to make work.
I like having Shane Richardson running the show, but it's at the expense of the '24 and 25 seasons.

Dogs coming in late for Luai would be a very Gus thing to do - I was told they were out and had full focus on AFB. Didn’t Ciraldo come out a couple of days ago and even state he wouldn’t take anyone from Penrith when asked about Luai.

For what it’s worth. My cousin spoke with Luai’s manager at Port Mac touch last week (they are mates). He said Luai hasn’t signed anything but ‘he will be at the tigers from 2025’. No idea how much or how long or anything else

Never paid much attention to Richo before because he was always someone else's CEO, but gee he impressed me today at that conference.

We still can't get a microphone out there so that you could hear the questions but that didn't matter, Richo just oozed passion, knowledge and experience like not all that many others that I have seen or heard before.

Makes you wonder how players and their managers could fail to be impressed and he also provided a small glimpse of his no bullshit, take no crap approach to the media, smart arses and fools in general, or that is at least the way he came across to me.

The only concern I have is if we are unable to secure him for the longer term, I want to win a comp with this bloke in charge and starting to re-consider the possibility of a 2024 membership renewal after vowing not to do it.
