Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We always do this. A player signs elsewhere and we want him gone asap while other clubs have no problem playing those players. I have been just as guilty as anyone with this and I think it's time we changed our tune, became more professional rather than emotional. If Tupou proves to be the best option we have in 24 then we play him. That being said, if Lobb or the Union guy are genuinely challenging him, then you give them the opportunity instead. However, as long as Tupou puts effort in, and is the best option, he plays.
He isn’t the best option. He is receiving games solely based on potential.
I’d rather send him to the Dolphins as an unfinished project and get a head start on some other kid. The drop in ability won’t be stark.

IF he doesn't put in then he will be dropped. As previously stated, the club have good replacements to fill the void.
And so he should. I just don’t understand the expectation that he should be winning us games regularly. Especially when we have another winger on twice as much complaining that training is too hard.

Lobb is quite slow and is not in the top 30 for a reason. He couldn’t break into the Dragons back line last year. The new player from union is a gamble.

Only winger ahead of Tupou atm is Staines.

Who do you think that might be, as a matter of interest? Because I haven't seen or heard anything to suggest there is a good, first-grade ready centre floating around in the Tigers' junior system. Do you know different? Do you think Bula just appeared from nowhere, like one week Sheens said "I'm gonna pick this Bula kid, I don't know anything about him but let's roll the dice" and he turned out to be really good?
Pretty much, yes.
Plenty of people said they had watched Bula in Reggie’s and were amazed that he was given a go in first grade based upon his less than mediocre efforts thus far.
He turns out for first grade and proves everyone wrong.
I’m saying keep looking at the kids and try them out. One might step up like he did.

Going off last season he is easily placed to start the year. Yes he had his flaws, and it probably highlights how weak we are outwide, but he definitely proved he is our best winger. It's up to others to go past him. I think Staines staying fit will see him be rated better, and let's hope Lobb can play as well as kick goals, but that's all to be seen. Going off what we have seen, Tupou starts. Who played better on the wing last year than Tupou?

No one played well on the wing last year, including him.
I wanted a completely new 3/4 line for next season but alas…

Staines had the poise when on field, which sadly wasn't long enough. Looks like he belongs at the top level. I suppose on the other wing if Tupou is gone one could go Naden or even Noff.

Truth is, Naden performed at Penrith in better class so if Luai and Olam comes that could bring him up.

Noff is an interesting case. Probably would relish playing in a better side to prove a point. Luai/Sezer and Fainu squaring up defences will get him running straight. And his got good hands unlike Tupou.

Sure he feels entitled and it's not a good attitude but probably feels he put in a little more than some others who craped on the club and departed.

Could do alot worse than have players with a point to prove.

The hinge is Luai. If he comes Naden, Staines.,Noff and even To'a might rise to the challenge.

To'a and Tupou have poor situational and game awareness. You might carry one in the backs but not two.

We then would be light on two quality backs.....but could probably get away with it.

Why on earth haven't we locked up Olam yet?

AJ is clearly reserve grade, Toa is great but just barely first grade. Don't get me wrong I rate Toa, I cheer him, but he isn't at first grade level.

Benji, get the Olam deal done.
Maybe the pieces will come together when we sort out Luai, but then again maybe Benji has changed his mind about Olam.
