Could be wrong but to me it looks a lot like a guy who played prop for Wests called Paul Merlo. He played for Wests in the 80s I think but he played for other clubs as well. His name in Italian means black bird which is one good reason to play for the Maggies.

I agree, but we will have no choice.

Our depth at wing is laughably stupid. I still think we should start Staines and Naden at wing. Let Tupou to either choose to play first grade or choose to languish in reserves.

Tupou's performance has made Nofo look good.

AJ and Naden are injury prone enough as it is. Feledy isn't really ready for first grade and neither was tristan Reilly (who has gone elsewhere). I do think we should hire closer to a good 17 then a lot of depth, but this is pretty close to the bone.

Congrats Tupou, you are now bench depth.

AJ is an absolute liability. I agree with the sentiment regarding Tupou and assisting his development. But I am about winning games and Tupou is superior to AJ in every facet of the game and improves the team

He isn’t the best option. He is receiving games solely based on potential.
I’d rather send him to the Dolphins as an unfinished project and get a head start on some other kid. The drop in ability won’t be stark.

Who's a better option? Kepoa definitely isn't. And neither is Nofa.

The AJ bashing does get tiring. Yes he sucks. But the club overall has sucked for the las few years. Players like him are bound to be regular first graders. What are you going to do?

Looks like Merlo. Came to us in 1980 from Penrith a sparky frim Maltese background.

Had a good year but sent off twice and suspended. Along with Goodwin who also got suspended twice and Dallas at least once probably cost us premiership.

Anyway, for a laugh Wests won RL new faces in 80 with a rendition of You can't stop the Magpies, the Village people song,

Merlo I believe was the guy with leather jacket on far left in that clip around 5 min mark.

I think the Centre from New Zealand will be part of the Wests tigers centre pairing.

Not a chance he'll play centre in the next 6 months. He's a union player, needs to understand league plays in attack and defence. He'll definitely start at wing, keep it simple and if/when he starts killing it may get considered for centre eventually. He's played wing and fullback, let's not make it too complicated for him

Not re-sign him. Play him in reserves and tell him he's free to leave. That's what other clubs would have done.
